Thanks again for the kind comments, great motivation! :D
I'm glad people like the wheels, I thought about colour coding the centres but I like the silver too, its a nice contrast against the grey. Still not sure yet! The only thing i'm not totally sure about on the wheels are the centre caps, with that hex centre.
Some of the purists may not be keen, but my budget won't let me go all out on wheels, I don't want to sacrifice anything in the resto from my original plans, BBS splits are going to be 3 or 4 times the cost.
I really like Hartge wheels but me getting hold of a set is of course unlikely.
I may go with the standard BBS wheels for a while, I have a set in pretty good nick. I like the style of them, but i'd rather have 16'' wheels on it.

Loving the work you have done so far mate, if you dont mind me sayin i wouldnt go for the Lenso (due to them being fake splits), id rather have the real thing, but thats just my opinion :)

Ill look forward to seeing it come back from the bodyshop.

Hi,

I've got the car back from the bodyshop now! I've been trying to get round to posting some progress pics up but things have been manic lately! Here we go finally though.

They're from a few weeks ago, I went over to the bodyhop in Needham to check progress:

They initially cut large sections out of the rear arches for welding, but more and more rot was discovered. So I took the plunge and went for brand new genuine rear quarters! As well as the inner arches. 8O

Probably could have been rescued but I think it was well worthwhile to get new ones.

Rear quarters have been bonded to the inner arches.

New front wings too.

Some welding around the battery tray/rear panel.

And on the top of the bulkhead, didn't realise there was a bit rot here until the windscreen was removed!

I have a couple of quick snaps of the end result! :D
Will get them on here shortly, uploading a load of pics at the mo.

I'm very happy with the paintjob, the cost is hard to swallow but its so nice to see it looking like a new car again.

Problem is i've left work to become a student so i'm seriously short on cash now! Should be ok though, I think i've just about reserved enough for the complete restoration and engine rebuild, without cutting corners!

Didn't realise how nice dolphin grey was, the old paint had gone so dull!

I'll get some more close ups with proper camera on soon. It'll slowly start going back together from next week.

That is looking spot-on mate. Sure some of the bills for the panels and paintwork made you weep a little but it's worth it to have the peace of mind that the car is solid and as good as it could be. Well done you! :D

after all the time effort and money that's gone into it it would be a shame to stick fake bbs on it imho. i'd go for a set of refurbed stock 15in bbs to keep it looking minty and original, and save up the pennies for some proper BBSs

looks awesome so far though 8)
cheers,

harry
