Ah reminds me of my very first BMW! It also came with the same steel wheels, although I had replaced em by the time the following picture was taken! I paid £65 for mine. :snigger:

It's sold... to me! I've been tracking it on Retro-rides and when it dropped to £50 I couldn't resist it. It'll be getting a spare M20B25.

"rob0r" Some new pics would be great just so we can see what sort of condition it is really in, and if you go ta bargain or a load of hassle!

Either way nice purchase, and saving of an E28! :D

Well it's at home now and it's lived up to expectations. It's in very good condition, very clean. There are a few rust spots and the rear wheel arches could better but for £50 the car is tip top! It puts my E30 318is to shame thats for sure! There does seem to be problems with the cooling system and the guy ran it into the red and thought the lump was done for. It ran ok yesterday but it's making way for a 2.5 M20 out of an E34 I have laying around. I won some very cheap 16" BBS for it off ebay which will be going on it in the near future, and it will become very low... I would of prefered manual and it would be possible for me to convert it but I want it ASAP to cruise for the summer

Since I've lost my camera USB cable, the best I can do is from my phone.

Winner!

My old 520i was identical but it had the manual box. A supremely comfortable motor although somewhat lacking in grunt. The new 2.5 should go some way to solving that though. Mine was one of the most reliable cars I have owned.

I fitted a tow bar and towed my old man's pug 106 on a heavy plant trailer from Edinburgh to Liverpool! Rear suspension took a bit of a hamering but it did the job spot on. I actually kissed it when I got back. :o:

One thing I would say is that when the back end goes out it's a lot scarier than the equivalent in an E30! Beware. :D

Bargain! Little bit of work and that'll be a nice little car that's cost you peanuts. Ideal :D

One 2.5 M20, a set of E38 16" x 8J BBS, some grinding discs and a lot of grafting and this is the result.

I wanted it ready for a show this weekend, got it on the road friday night and drove it untested 200miles to the show. Needless to say I was going to have problems... This is how I drove the 200miles home!

It got stuck in terrible traffic around stonehenge and the car got hot, I couldn't pull off the road and the cylinder head is more than likely cracked. The viscous just couldn't keep it cool enough in traffic and I reckon it was a bit too far away from the E34 rad.

bit of a shame, it's a minor set-back though i'm sure. It looks great though, I was surprised how quick you got it up and running!

Errrr.......

Good point! :o:

Anyone know if there's a decent steering rack you can put in an E28 to sharpen it up?

I had a shed of a 528i manual many years ago, and like the E30, the steering was one of the few bad things about it.

I like the idea of having another one though. :)

I'll bet the man was on a mission to shift some of those Stonehenge rocks with it, until an overheating M20B25 scuppered the dastardly deed in its tracks

Thanks guys for the comments. The wheelbarrow is a Barrow-B-Q, well it was before we lost the grill on the way home...

It's awaiting it's fate for the time being, I swore to destroy it since it had been no end of trouble over the weekend!

You know I raise a good point martin! Hows about you flog me your engine if you ever break yours!

Could an e36 rack not be made to fit?

Have I missed something, whats this about smashing wheel barrows?
