hi
i have just got an e30 and it has some 6x9 speakers in the rear and i wish to replace them with my jbl ones they dont qiute fit due to not enough depth i figureed i cound make some ply spacers to raise them . question is will this small space behind the speaker effect the sound from them? any thoughts would be appriciated. cheers carl.

Spacer rings in MDF are available on ebay quite cheaply. Ideally the speaker has to have the right amount of free air behind it but it should be fine. You could put some sound deadening on the space but I doubt it would make much difference in practice.

Rings - thinner ones are availalbe
