323i cutting out at 5000rpm

Just wondering if anyone would know why my 323i is cutting out at 5000 rpm. It revs smootly up to redline at half throttle but if it's floored it cuts out around 5000. Throttle position switch???

had the same problem with my 323i, some new spark plugs fixed it (make sure they are properly gapped)
