Today I secured 12 months MOT and the fuelling (albiet a bit rich to start with) was a straight pass. We've got the HC's done to an acceptable level and she now ticks over very well and all hesitation seems to have disappeared. If fact nail the throttle and theres not a cough, splutter......nothing. It just sits on it's haunches and launches.
Early indications show that it pulls MUCH harder than it used to. It does seem to "need" to get on the cam more than before but mid range is excellent.
I'm well happy. Just about to rip it all to bits again ready for Gaydon next week.

No. this was never meant to be a balls out screamer, just a nice torquey cruiser.....which it seems is what I now have. The 2.5's were a lovely engine but I always felt they lacked Torque. This is now sorted in B7.oakey wrote:Great stuff Trevor. You'll love the 2.7Have you driven one before?
I want to reset the valve clearances as I did them loose as people say the M20's like but they are just a little too noisey for my taste. I'll set them as factory and that should sort it.
I've been out in it this afternoon to the garden centre it ain't spat it's dummy out yet so all seems well.

Well? I've now done 100+ miles in the car (will do another load tomorrow going to Gaydon) and I have to say......................It's a peach. All the little post engine in niggles are ironed out now and how's it to drive? It's lovely.
The power delivery is smooth, it pulls really well (as Si and Henry will confirm
sorry if I scared you!) and dare I say it's reletively quick.
I reckon the valve clearances could do with a little tickle but......................
So what now? Sell it and move on to a motorsport if I can find a genuine non chavved up car? Who knows.
I'll take some final shots of the bay with all in situ and post later.

Trevor that looks absolutely stunning! Congratulations are well in order for you and your helpers. Those engine bay shots are more minty than a really minty thing that's, erm, mint flavoured!
