I don't have any experience with the standard discs but I have the EBC slotted and lots of people say they warp easily. I have had no problems with them after many track days over the last 1 1/2 years. I usually try to do a cool down lap but that is about all I can get at a lot of tracks and then I have to park the car in the pits which are on a slope so I have to leave the park brake on and the car sits in the one spot which is bad. I also went to one track where we weren't allowed a cool down lap and then the car had to sit still straight away. The discs have still never warped though.

I have also measured the temperature after being on the track and they were about 220 C which doesn't seem massively hot to me and I can't imagine getting anywhere near that on the road, that was after multiple hard stops within 10 to 20 seconds of each other for at least 6 or 7 laps. How hard do you all brake? I don't think they would get much over 100 C with normal road driving and I don't think that would be enough to warp them? It is a steel disc. Maybe if you drove the auto with 2 feet and accidentally rested one foot on the brake pedal the whole time you were driving or something?

Even if you use the park brake I thought I read somewhere that this could still warp the disc just because the pad is still sitting at one part of the disc for an extended period of time. It isn't actually touching the disc but just by sitting next to the same spot it could still cause the disc to cool unevenly and that could cause it to warp?

The car is a 318i Touring automatic - it doesn't exactly lend it'self well to hard driving - it is the Lux model with the 15" cross spoke wheels (look great, biatch to clean), and good tyres, and it won't even kick the back out unless it is really slippery, the car seems to be much more of a fan of understeer!

The problem is most likely through being sat too much, and perhaps not being driven to dry the discs after washing. I guess what I was really asking, was should I go for genuine discs and pads again, or is this a common prob with genuine discs, which it would seem it isn't.

Great site by the way, and thanks all for your help, opinions and entertainment!

PS. Anyone got any ideas about my noisey driveline? http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... ic&t=15082
