I'm been working on a setup using gsxr tb's and a (modified) inlet manifold.
It's still a work in progress but i'm getting there.

Dave.. Do you know which year those ITB's came from. I have a set of GSXR750 ones that look very simmilar to those and I can figure out when they're from. I need another set for my V8 project and the GSXR ITB's seemed to change every year!

These are 600cc ones from a K2/K3 model circa 2002/2003.
They had the ecu controlled 2nd butterfies fitted(which have been removed)
The later K4 onwards bodies were twin set's IIRC.
Sorry i can't help more, and what i've mentioned may not apply to the 750 versions.

That's great thanks mate. I shouldn't thing they re-develop the TB's for the different capacities for the year they're from. The look pretty simmilar.

Are you thinking of the orange E30 that used to compete a few years back?moggy wrote:One of the guys in the Kumho champs has done this. His pic is on their website. Might be worth trying to get in touch with him.
my ears are burning !
the ITB set up i have on orange car 50 was built by a guy called John Wilcox i believe some years ago for an earlier car and made their way onto my car later
they look and sound great !! difficult to say how much HP they are worth - the weber system is not easy to tune and if /when i can afford i shall replace with a modern ECU with more advanced mapping and sequential injection
interestingly I was advised to fit filter socks over the trumpets then told by others to take them off- as they were deemed restrictive. Thor racing dyno told a different story they were worth 2-3 HP over open trumpets !

paynts,
thanks for you post. With throttle bodies what racing series/hilclimbs etc do you do with the car?
As far as I m aware(could be wrong), Pre 93 you can't use throttle bodies, but in TTRS you can and also by the sounds of it Kumho.
Can I also ask what HP you recorded(flywheel) at Thor?
I am just finishing the build on mine (not on Throttle bodies yet) and will be going to the rolling road in the next couple of weeks.
best

AFAIK you can't use bodies in either Pre'93 or TTRS.dph500 wrote:

You can use multi carbs in TTRS I think (i.e. 3 x DCOE's).
I think bodies are OK in Kumho, but don't take my word for it!!
A 325 on bodies would be eligeable for SE Tintops, DMN, CTCRC Classic Thunder (or whatever they're calling it this week) and no doubt others. These are just the ones we've looked at due to geography.
On the hills, it would be in something called Modified Limited Production, I think. The roadgoing classes basically dont allow much in the way of mods.

edit
p.s. Hi, Simon - I hope you didn't mind me taking your name in vain!

Hi Kim you might be right about that
as for HP we dropped from just 197 est flywheel to 189 est flywheel!!
however that doesnt tell the whole story as we gained a good deal of mid range torque which the engine didnt have before I did a bit of guestimating and I'd say changing the cam netted about 15% more area under the curve
On the track the car is quicker

SE Tintops is a different series to the above - runs with Dunlop/Motorsport News (DMN) Saloonsm or 'Rod Birleys Series' as it's sometimes known.moggy wrote:kimbo wrote:

Only recently become aware of Future Classics - is it a two driver / enduro type event?

Hi guy's
I fitted toyota 4age 20v ITB's to a M42 motor in my classic kit car, lightened flywheel, and stand alone ems, custom exhaust and headers, dyno'd at 178bhp.
The sound of the itbs at full throttle is unbeatable!
I think the 6pot would sound great!
