I'm thinking of doing a groupbuy on some heated front windscreens for the E30 (not M3), anyone interested?

The screens are tinted green as per the factory glass, and negate the requirement for a heater box in your track car, and as such offer a significant weight saving. These would also be beneficial in a road car as they will demist a windscreen much faster than your existing heater on a cold morning.

Price is £200 + delivery, the only other place I've found who sell these is XLR race parts who want £230 + vat + delivery.

Ideally I need 14 names, so who's interested?

I'm interested, will you need a separate (fused) wiring harness to install it? Won't an E30 screen fit an M3 anyway, I know they are bonded on an M3 but apart from that and the outer trim, isn't the screen the same?

Nice one Nickso.

Andy, I don't honestly know how the screens vary, but both XLR and the suppliers of these screens differentiate between the two.

I should probably have mentioned in the first post that there will be a fair lead time on these, it will probably be around November when they will be manufactured and ready for delivery.

i will be interested but it really depends on when payment is required as money is tight for about a month. will the screens be as tough as the oem ones? my screen has a small crack so this could be a great replacement.

Dano, yes the screens work on the same principle as Ford heated screens.

Raj, theres no rush for payment - the manufacturing can't happen until September at the earliest as they are closed for all of August. That said, nothing will happen unless I can get 13/14 names.

I'm really not sure, XLR want £39+ vat for delivery which seems rather steep. I imagine getting glass delivered is rather tricky, but I dare say I will find a decent solution.

Guys, I'm really sorry but will have to drop out. The crack in my windscreen has grown and need to replace now so going to have it replaced.

I would imagine they just require a positive and a ground. The wiring will have to be done yourself. There should be a fuse and relay location in your fusebox spare, perhaps the one for the second speed of the aircon fan, or the heated seats. You could then fit a second rear de-mister switch.

I'm very interested in these screens, I'm just not in the financial situation to sign up just yet.. Perhaps in a month or two I'd be able to put the money aside..

Jai, wiring it should be no problem, I just dont want some massive control box stuck to the side of the dash or anything stupid like that.

It looks like it might be a month or two before anything happens anyway, so maybe you will be alright.

Ive got some money owing to me from overtime worked, so will stick my name down when I know its cleared.

JMC, I'd be amazed if there's any control unit, I assumed it would be much like a rear screen, didn't think to ask. I'll give the suppliers an email to get confirmation.

would be easy to fit the screen itself with the proper tool (not expensive).

i'd imagine the heated part will be the same as the rear screen so a switch, fuse, relay and some wiring would be required.
