Changed all my plugs today for Bosch Super Fours from (worn out) NGK (on my 318is).

Improvement is huge: smoother idle, stronger pull, even better throttle response.

Funny, I rather enjoyed myself doing the change, has given me the confidence to do an oil and filter change now (before you take the p1ss, I am the type of person who can barely turn on a tap).

You'd notice a smoother idle and better pick up with any new plugs if the old ones were fecked. :?

Another good reason why the E30 is so revered BEERBOY.
They are so easy to work on, with help from here in plentiful supply. Just the same with spares.

Yep, big thumbs up, I remember the satisfaction of turning the key and hearing a big throaty roar of the engine after you've done your first maintainance job on it. Good on you.

Not wishing to be start a debate here, i changed the plugs on my 325 from Bosch to NGK and it was 100% better after the swop.

The Bosch plugs werent that old either and were in good condition, car was a little lumpy before, much better after, although still having a few issues with the TPS which i'm gonna test today.

Feels good when you have a go at this things, especially as i aint no mechanic thats for sure.

Whats the worse that could happen, its only nuts and bolts after all

Are the superfours the ones (as the name suggest) with the four fingers on the end? if so it was recommended to me a bmw specialst garage that they shouldn't be fitted to the IS, cant remember the reason now but i bought the two finger ones instead.

Any one else heard anything like this? and no it wasnt munich legends who told me

I remember reading a post about it on here ages ago saying something like that. Except to fit the single "finger" ones instead. so i ordered some NGK's from bmw to make sure.... and they turned up with 4 fingers!

Bosch > NGK. i much prefer the bosch super fours over my NGK ones. The car doesnt feel quite the same as it used to with the NGK's, i felt that the bosches gave the car a little bit more of an "edge" to it - if you know what i mean :chuckle:

I've always trusted Bosch as they make so many OEM parts.

OE NGK imo. 8)

I've heard quite a few variable reports regarding the Bosch Super 4s.

I think one always 'notices' the car feeling/running better after a plug change, either through the old plugs being shot or the good old fashioned placebo effect.

I was surprised to notice that the i.S uses Exactly the same plug as my 106 Rallye, handy that I've got some spark plugs left laying around N.I.B eh? :)

And there were tales of the Super 4's contacting pistons in Peugeot TU engines, but I've run them on my Rallye for ages and had no issues, perhaps early ones?

ndd to change the plugs, filter and oil on mine actually, and get rid of the flippin service lights!
