Hi!
I tought i could post up some pics of my current project.
I bought the car two years ago (Man, things are going slowly!), and after ONE day on the road when I got her back home I spun a rod bearing. The crankshaft was also destroyed.

So, I ripped almost the whole car in pieces; engine, drivetrain, interior, electrical.
It was time to rebuild the car!
I tracked down an used S50B30 Euro engine in Denmark, from an english E36 M3.

Oh, and BTW... I tossed those E36 mirrors in the river now, and replaced them with the original E30 mirrors. Maybe I will go for some vented DTM mirrors later.

Here's the car when I had her on the road...
Image

The spun rod bearing

Painted the engine bay, awaiting for the new engine.
Image

Image

Some minor rust repair... but that will be taken care of this week.
Image

Image

I have worked on this one to fit the E30 chassis.
Mounted the gearbox yesterday (Finally) so it's time to put it in.

So now I need to find a complete E30 M3 wiring loom (for the car) or repair the old one. The previous owner was obviously NOT an electrician!
But now I'm going to take a vacation in Sweden... and then start to work on the car again in a couple of weeks. :D

Here she is now, in the storage garage, awaiting the new engine.

Thank you :)

Gazm3: 8,5 x 17" in the front and 10x17" in the rear.
215/45 in the front and 245/40 in the rear. Gotta love the stretch, but I'm going for a bit wider now when I buy new tyres. 225 or 235 in the front and 265 or 285 in the rear.

Thank you all :) I'm looking forward to get the car done. The goal is to get it done by next summer.
Forgot to mention it, but the car is on FK Coilovers with yellow Koni dampers and Poly bushes. I should keep that for now, but I'm thinking of upgrading the brakes with a K-Sport 356mm 8-pot kit in front, and a 330mm 6-pot kit in the rear.

I will keep the standard leather interior, and keep it pretty original inside (Only add some vital gauges like Water temp, oil temp and pressure, fuel pressure etc.).

Will keep you updated :)

Okay fellas, a small update!
The engine is in!!!

I have vacation right now, but I was at work to do some stuff on my M3. My girlfriend runs her own company as a gardener and is hired by the company I work for, so she was also there to do some gardener-stuff. But after an hour we found out that after a long night out yesterday we were tired, so we went back home.

But later I got a bit restless, so we went back up again. I should only prepare the engine for insertion tomorrow... but you know how thing go.
I disassembled the inlet, and both exhaust manifolds, mounted the slave cylinder for the clutch and mounted the starter... and then I couldn't resist. I grabbed the hoist and throw the engine in... well, throw and throw. But it just went out too easy. All this work in about one hour! :D Got help from my father in law, and my mother in law. Yes... my mother in law actually helped me mount my engine in my M3!! She's pretty cool!

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics since I left my camera at home, but I will take som pics tomorrow.
Here's some pics from yesterday tough... when the car finally saw daylight after ONE YEAR!

One year old dust!

Thank you :)
Here's some pics I took today.
I bolted the engine up and the transmission-mounts and bushings. Did some other minor things, but nothing huge today.
I will have to take a look at the exhaust manifolds, and the brake system.
My brake booster is a hydraulic unit from a BMW E32 and some other early-80's BMW's. The thing is a bit too long so it will hit the intake boot, but that's no big deal. Gonna make a small dent in the boot so it will clear the master cylinder.

Image

Image

Image

A bit tight clearance to between the radiator and air filter. Actually, NO clearance. Will have to bend down the air filter. No problem :)

HaHa, I used to fit out Fire Engines too a while back. Scania's mainly.

I thought all you Norweigans scoffed at Natural Aspirated cars though. Where's the massive Turbo?

Hehe, that's cool 8)
Yes, we actually do that... hahaha, no seriously, I've never drove a N/A engine with this much power, so it will be fun to see how it works.
If i will be tempted to do a turbo conversion, I will use another engine. The M-Power engine should be N/A imo... :)

Nothing huge is happening atm.
I have started to clean the floor and remove some rust. Three holes needs to be welded. No big deal :)

Drivers side. A rust hole in the front left corner.
Image

Passenger side, couple of holes...
Image

Removed the last piece of sound deadening.
Image

Image

And then the floor is ready to be painted, soon...

Got this in the mail yesterday. Just some show-off ;)
Image

Did a mock-up with a licence plate from a dutch fire truck... turned out pretty good I think.

Okay guys, time for a small update...
I have welded the rust in the floor, painted it and installed some sound deadening material.
I have also painted up the pedals and mounted brand new ///M Pedals, and mounted the gear shifter. So now it's almost done... lol ;)
Got my new wiring harness today, so I will start with that tomorrow! :?

From this...

And from this...

To this...
Image

I am looking forward to get the wiring harness done, and toss in the carpet again winkeye

Test fit of the original exhaust manifolds!
They don't fit at all. To much conflict with the ARB and the subframe...
I think I will buy the Turner Motorsport headers which is made especially for the M50 / S50 conversion. I may modify the original ones, but I think I will keep them original, they are a piece of art ;)

I think the pictures speak for themselves...

Started carefully...
Image

Image

All that, in that tiny little hole?
Image

It went through (It always does!)
Image

So, tomorrow I will have to separate the mess and guide it through the car and find out where everything belongs again! :thumb:
And next is the engine harness, but that's much more simple.

As Fuzzy said, are you using the entire harness off the E36? If so, why is that?

Anyway, best of luck to you!

Thank you guys!
No, this is the harness for the E30 M3. I pulled out the entire harness when i did the prep-work in the floor, so this is just a replacement for the old harness :)
The engine harness is the only from E36 M3.
