Just drove past, and stopped to look at a very clean e21 316.
Are these things worth much with ultra low miles?.

Behave, of course the m30 donk will fit, that's what i'm doing to my E21 winkeye , but the engine mounts are expensive.
I bought Origional Alpina ones and paid a premium for them.
It is worth buying if it is a clean car.
Because it's a 316, there not worth big money, mines stands me at £50.00, yes £50.00!!.
Have a look through the German pages of car pages and you'll get the idea.
323i's are fetching BIG money atm, one in germany is on sale for 21,000 euros  but that is absolutly MINT.
HTH.
BTW, offer him £400 for it.

e21s are sadly unloved, though it is true to say that almost any car with the holy trinity 'low miles, one owner, fsh' will eventually find a buyer at a massive premium over an otherwise identical car. They all rust though, and rusty old motors aren't worth a fart, nice history or not.

Check the rear of the boot very carefully, around the bumper mounts.
Then all the usual E30 type areas.
These things were not as well protected as E30.
On a 'Y' it's one of the last imported,as already said it will have novelty value to the right person.

I like the E21, we used to have a 320 in Polaris Silver with M-tech go faster stripes. Looked

Mechanically very decent but the body let it down, badly. I remember when we were looking to scrap it I was jacking it up to take off the BBS alloys and the jack went straight through!

Is it a 316 ir 316i? £500?

the front jacking points are not very strong when there solid! we up rated ours putting a plate on the inside to take the load when jacking into the bottom of the a post also welded in a a foot long bit of half inch square box tube alond the line of the sill underneath.

its a lot of effort to go to for something thatll only sell for pennies even when clean but i suppose its not about the money when restoring old cars.

Mine is in worse condition then that, but its not the money factor, its about owning something youve restored.

Glad you still get to keep the bronzit! Your old man should sell the Jag no problem. It looked stunning when I saw it on your drive.

The 316 is superb mate. It's running so smooth I've not had a single problem with it. I gave it a full detail today and I still can't get over the condition!

It's still unmolested at the moment. But that's all about to change... 8)
