PBMW is not about engine rebuilds
True, just ask any of the top dozen or so .... erm no, hang on a minute ..... Very few of the cars at the top end of the field have not had significant engine work, but lower down the order there are a few running on engines from breakers that have just had basic servicing and are still running strong and reliable. And some that are trying it on with a "budget racer 200k mile engine straight out of a scrap yard" etc etc but you can spot the shiny new gaskets a mile away  :D
For sale - E30 320i racer project - sold.

LOL- should probably read is not meant to be about :p

72k scrapper in mine going strong :)

My real point was you will have plenty of people to race with, have a wicked time, and be able to afford to still go to the pub with a scrapper engine

Hope you get it all sorted and enjoy yourself at Oulton! I'll be supporting Neil at Cadwell so hopefully see you there!

Well, I thought its about time for another update....

New motor has been built and fitted ready for Oulton Park this Saturday (8th), just needs coaxing into life and we will be racing! :D

Fingers crossed that it does go fuc*ing bang again!
Its had a new cambelt set, and water pump, oil filter, spray bar, plugs, etc so Im hoping it will finish the PBMW and TTRS races so I can get 4 of my 6 signatures to get off novices plates!

Best wishes for Oulton Steve! Hope you have a good few runs and get some racing experience under your belt.

You can only get 2 signatures from each meeting, so you will have a wait a while to take off the novice cross!

Good Luck Ste

I did another one at Snetterton, should have left it well alone but instead I put a new head on and the bottom end then lasted 3 races- DOH!

I now have a full new one to get in for 2010!

I was down at Oulton watching today. I thinki it was Steve who had a big off in race 2 which resulted in the race finishing slightly early-luckily no injuries just a slightly damaged rear end :x

Great racing today-I can't wait for our first race outing in September. :D

Well done getting points in your first race Ste!!! Sorry to hear about your off in race 2 though!

My brother was racing number 56 - he qualified 10th in his group, and 13th fastest overall which meant he started his two races 7th and 13th, he finished the races in 9th and 10th, including a spin the same place as Ste in race 1... he's very happy since they are his best results so far and he's never raced at Oulton before! :D

Yeah, I have to admit I had a great day at Oulton yesterday, and considering the first time the engine actually powered the car was when it drove onto the trailer on Friday afternoon we did ok....
The noise scrutineer (I think thats what he was called) commented that it was the quietest car he had tested at a race meeting for a while@ 86dB as it has a standard exhaust! My mechanic was'nt quite so kind when he compared it to a Dyson going past the pits!

Qualified fuc* knows how fastest (I'll have to check) but managed a 2.16s (when the quickest guys were doing 2.07s!) so knew I was a country mile off the pace, and spent most of the TTRS race looking in my mirrors rather than through the screen to watch out for the quickest Class A lads.

My wife and kids also came down to watch (against her best wishes but to show support) and decided to sit at Old Hall and have a picnic.
Cue PBMWC race 2, me at the back getting more confident when 2 laps from the end I spun and hit the barriers at, guess where, Old Hall.
Safety car, Doc, loads or marshalls, etc, etc, on the scene which was soooooooooooooooooo embarressing but the right thing to do.
All was ok, but she thens storms home in tears (fortunately taking the kids!)

Then I was out for the second TTRS race and had a great dice with Joe (who was sharing Si Bassfords car), when I say dice, he actually slowed down for me so he could have a play!
Great guy too....

So, all in all a succesful day.... A bit of panel damage, great weather, beer and racing in the friendliest series ever!

Pics of damage to follow, but I have to thank James and Gary who mecc'd for me and were brilliant!

Ste-we chatted to you very very briefly when you were sat in your boot after race 2 :D

I was hanging around on Fri but don't remember seeing you? (I had my little daughter with me).

Generally a friendly bunch apart from being stonewalled by the winner of race 2 :(

Race 2 of PBMW? That would be Ben Winrow, 2008 Clio Cup champion, this was his second race with us. Maybe a bit more serious than the rest of the grid ;)

Looking on the brightest side. As you sead, now you get to lurn panal beating and the winter will not be as boaring.
