sorry about the two treads mods

i`m looking at two sports at the mo, is there any one on here that knows anything about these two cars.

minor stuff i`m not to worried about as i know i only get what i pay for. Both on pistonheads.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1038936.htm

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1150527.htm

Both under £3000 which is my budget, the top one i`m looking at in the morning.

I wouldn't bother looking at either of them tbh :(
Neither advert is promising.
Did you not say you were a tech1 fan before?? If so go for a good tech1 as they are much more in your budget. Anyone selling a good tech2 will put a heftier price than £3000 on it, especially if they know their e30's.
I picked up my tech1 for just under 3k and all it needed was £500 of bodywork to get it faultless looks wise.(which I still havent done yet :o: ) and mechanically it was A1!!

Heres the one, i think it looks good
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... RegLetter=

Cheapish tech2, me personaly wouldnt pay more than this, with a 3k budget you would have plenty left for the inevatable restoration....

^TBH I wouldn't go and look at any of those either unless they were close.
The tech1 looks best but it has the wrong interior, wheels and bootlid but at least it has what appears to be the correct ride height.

thanks for that, and yeah i would rather a tech 1, can i ask oakey why would you not look at them as some people are not into them as we all are on here and dont really know the true value of what they have, i have spoke to both persons and one is better then the other the top one ticks all my box's, yes it has a few little minor things with it but so did your tech 1 when you got it, he sent me 22 pictures of all the common rot places and there all clean. did hpi checks all clean i shell go and have a look in the morning and check the other common place and all paper work, so what would be the problem.

sorry to go on.

If you have pictures of all the common places for rot and they are good then great! I was going on the adverts alone. Also I have got proper fussy recently :D
What puts me off is the very basic adverts. "rust on sunroof" and worn drivers bolster would make me think that the car hasn't been looked after 100%. If its got rust on the sunroof then I would automatically assume it had more. If I were to buy another sport now I would splash out and get a proper corker as it will cost more money to mint up just a "tidy one". But that's because I would want one of the best. If you just want a cool car to cruise around in then just a 'tidy one' will be great.
Have you got photos of the strut towers at the rear, behind the boot trim? Rear battery tray? behind the rear door cards? Sunroof tray? Front battery tray and behind fusebox?? These are the most expensive areas to repair rot.

Ask people like bss, who started off with a very very good car when he got it, how much it cost him to get it to be one of the best.

As I said before it depends whether you want a proper stunner or a nice and tidy useable sport

Not interested in this one?
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=141844
It appears to have had a good resto. Obviously it has too many council mods for the price but if you want a rust free shell (which everyone does!) this could be it if done to a high standard??

The second one is a cat C and is also on ebay and he has advertised it a few times. First time he put on ebay a month ago he never said anything about it being hpi recorded, second time he listed it a few weeks ago he said in his ad that the car is cat D and now he has it listed on ebay saying it is a cat C.

what a toss3r :x , next week he might say it is a cat B :weirdo: :banghead:

i think the 180k is okay if its been looked after, mines done 147k but no history etc but the condition is way above average, so i wouldnt let the no history on a car this old put you of to much, as its obvious if a car has been looked aftr or not . I think the 1st one you put up with the standard bbs alloys looks the best but the rust on the sunroof would put me off, it may not be bad thow, if you look at it make sure you check the roof properly, could be a good excuse to offer him less for it, as 3k is a little to much id offer 2600-2800 if i was buying. If the 2nd one thats in ireland has been owned by a drifter stay way way clear

Ive just noticed them ones i put up are far from perfect especialy the red one, but for 2k not bad, the black tech2 has no MOT but id give him 2k :) And i didnt notice the 180k on the tech1 either but it looks a corker and you can see its had some money thrown at it.the spoiler & alloys would have to go thow :)
It all depends what you are after realy mate theres plenty of choice.

I wouldn't worry about that little bit if the rest of the car is good. Easily replaced.
Hows the rest of the car? I take it you bought it? :D
