the 540i has a getrag s6s 420g and the 850i has a getrag s6s 560g are these interchangable as i have plans to v12 my e34 as somthing different with a v12 howell! i have found the engine for £100! but dont wanna really go down the auto road.

if the above is not going to work is there any american or other makes a similar box was used on that may fit? is i dont have v12 manual money at the min!

i've always wanted to build a E34 550i! :D

having had a E32 and E34 sat alongside each other, it looks soooo similar and must be fairly easy... (famous last words!)

Same here! I'll never do it, as a 540i would be a better car in all honesty (as well as being rather easier!). Would be ****ing cool though!

the gearbox is what stopped me lobbing a V12 in my last E34.

put a LPG kit on it, leave it as an auto and you'll have a very nice, economical daily bruiser. ideal for towing a track car etc also!

bet you could have a nice one on the road for sub £1k, but automatic.

i don't know the exact reason, be it bolt pattern or otherwise.

Bmw 850csi box, 2-3k second hand bolts on.

probably cheaper to get a cut and shut bellhousing onto a m60 manual box, or a 265 box

265 is the e30m3 e28 535/m5 box with a removable bellhousing easier to modify
