Seat refurbishment

Just a quick update on the seat refurb project in the 325

I've purposely not done the headrest on this seat as it was the first one I'd done and wanted to get a good idea of the difference it made...needless to say I'm pretty happy with the result!

The finishing result is really good.............How did you get rid of any cracks in the leather?Apparentley they heat them up

It's a company called the Furniture Clinic up near Newcastle. They provide repair kits for leather furniture and seats etc...

They will match any colour leather at all if you can send a sample up to them. The cracks are filled with a repair compound that (so far) seems to be extremely flexible and doesn't simply crack again the first time you sit in it.

In all, the fronts, rear bench, rear backrests, rear headrests and door cards will cost me roughly £100 to get up to the same standard as this seat.

Don't get me wrong though...it's VERY time consuming. You should expect to take a full day per seat!

(In case anyone's wondering, I have absolutely no connections with this company I am just genuinely very impressed with what they do)

Thats what I thought - looked good before!

The stuff is excellent I have used it before to do my steering wheel.

I will be doing my whole interior later this year including door cards!

The passenger seat actually wasn't too bad but the driver's seat is (was) pretty cracked and dirty. The rear bench is absolutely fine just faded now so need to do that too

Probably need a large or extra-large kit. So £85 or £105 (I think) I bought an extra-large one because you get a free colour match with that and I needed that for mine.

, this looks like good stuff. After seeing your results I will be defenitely be getting this done. I am going to have good read on there website a little later on in the evening.

By the way quick question, how long (hours) does the entire process take to get the leather interior done?
Also is it quite easy and straight forward to get done, not too time consuming I hope

It has taken me around six hours per front seat (I'm a bit of a perfectionist!) and the rears should take me around ten hours I would have thought. The door cards should be easier, couple of hours for the lot...

It's very straight-forward, nothing complicated but I'd strongly recommend getting a compressor from them too, the air cannisters are ok but you'll soon get frustrated!

Got to be honest prefered them before, too bright now imo!

Although fantastic work and a major difference, they look brand spanking new!

Can you use that stuff to change the colour of the seats, say black to red? Can you colour plastics like the seat backs? What about carpets?

I did think that initially but the colour they are now is the original factory colour and I'm very much a 'standard is best' type person.

Yes it will change the colour of the seats from black to red. I don't know about plastics, I would imagine so if the surface were primed properly...

Have an ancient 205 1.9 interior, would this be do-able on half leather?

and would it make it supple again-it's gone very hard when it's cracked?

I used Satin since that's the factory finish on the leather. I imagine it wouldbe fine on half leather, just lots more prep masking off, and yes it would make the leather feel much newer and a lot more supple

I've tried their product before,
That's why (in my wanted thread - anyone help?) I state that the colour is not desperately important,
I was happy but these are even better than mine !
