I've now found a naikasil failure bottom end as I'm just after the crank for the 2.8 m20 conv, but is there anything else worth salvaging? the block must be a fair amout in scrap value or desirable for sleeving etc?

Not really, just the flange that the front pully bolts to so you can get it machined down to make the spacer, pully bolt and washer.
Oh, make sure you loosen the pully bolt before you take the crank out, IIRC its about 400 Lb:Ft
