Just found this on autotrader, to me its a bit pricy but the price is encouraging for tech1 owners as there is a few forsale and people are starting to ask good money for them :)
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... egLetter=E

And there is this one that doesnt exactly look mint, but good price still:

I think techI values will overtake techIIs in the next few years, but at the moment, £5k is too much for a techI that isn't totally mint and original - restored cars have yet to see any real value unfortunately.

tech 2 will always be higher[/quote]

why? given that the tech 1 is rarer and better? (neither of these are subjective judgements)
They are also better looking fitting better the e30 lines (a subjective judgement I admit but still the right one)

Because no one want a scabby old pre facelift! :D

The "better" statement is marginal!

I higher comp ratio and bilsteins as standard, woo wee!

A good low comp B25 will do factory power and most E30's have had their shocks replaced by now.

Tech one kits look stuck on, tech 2 kits look like part of the car!

Tech 2 does look good, just a shame when they get fitted with scrap like Azevs, eyebrows, dodgy numberplates etc

I'm not sure about that. For a long time a Mark 2 RS2000 was worth more than a Mark 1. Now they aren't.
In the rust stakes the Tech 2 is a couple of strides behind but in the next few years rust will claim a few more. Conversely, I found a Tech 1 is a breakers yesterday and relived it of it's LSD - the only thing worth having off it.
They will have their day when E30's are really rare (they aren't yet) - another 5-10 years. I'm not sure they will be worth more, but values will even out. I prefer the early car by a mile, much sharper looking.

Andyboy did that tec1 have a beige cloth interior or the normal grey one?

And +1 on the tec1's being better looking! :D

Once e30s in general have become bona fide classics, how many original techI sports will be around? Added to the fact that they are more 'old-fashioned' looking, I can see demand for them going up while supply continues to dwindle. Since I have been on here, interest in techIs has gone up noticeably - I can only see that continuing. I wasn't trying to turn this into one of the endless zone 'which is better?' threads - I think we can all do without another one of those - just trying to point out that good techIs do seem undervalued in the present market.

Very true :)

Shame mine is never going to be a "real" Sport.

Least only us geeks will know that though due to the giveaway colour!

Tech 2's common as MUCK!

Tech 1's rare as F*CK!

They will be worth more than tech 2's one day!

One sold on pistonheads recently for 5500 that had 75k on the clock. Told him about mine with 64k and he wanted to buy it!

Agreed, same happens on most forums.

Basically I now think the e30 to have is the m10 auto quadrapportayyyy. m3's are undesirable as you look like you are trying to hard...

So, anyway, who has a £1000 undesirable m3 for sale?

Wow this caused a bit of a stir :)
What i always compare the tech1 & 2 to is the s1 & s2 escort rs turbo's. The s1 is a lot rarer than the s2 and has similar understated styling to the tech1 and is the same age, were the s2 is comparable to the tech2 sports with a more cheap looking bodykit, boy racer ad-ons and is the same age etc.
Now there was a point a many years ago when s2 sold for more, but have a look now and there is a massive difference in the valuations as the s2 was produced in larger amounts as was the tech2. So eventualy the lesser produced car will be worth more in theory as s1's are worth a small fortune these days and the tech1 has started to go up in valuation.
All i would say is if you are thinking of selling your tech1 sell it for a higher price as they have been getting sold way to cheap of late, and they appear to have quite a cult following of late :D

P.S sorry for comparing 2 great bmw's to a crappy old escort but imo its a good comparison

Do i need to? its quite self explanatory. Anything you can find in a demon tweeks catalogue :D
Im just saying tech2's ae more likely to be messed with than a tech1, as is the same with the RST's.
Im not having a dig because id be a hypocrite as my tech1 isnt standard and is considerably faster than a standard one, but it looks standard :) Just an observation.

I'm still lost.

I cant think of anything that comes as standard on series twos and tech2's that you would find in a demon tweeks catalouge.

In fact if anything the body kit on a S1 is a lot larier with the S2's being alot more understated.

lets get this straight, they bult the same number of tech 1's and 2's for the UK market. The tech 1's have rusted away quicker seeing as the oldest one is only 2 years older than an early tech 2

On its way to China now. It was in the stack next to the crusher, not that there was much metal left. If was a shattered wreck with no glass and a destroyed interior, clearly been stood for a long time. She was a D plater in Diamond with grey houndstooth. Bodykit, front seats and wheels had already been fragged from it. The gearbox was the same HC coded unit as I took from that '88 Touring so I left it there.

The 3.64 LSD has been blasted and painted, ready to be served for a modest profit. winkeye
