Just wondered what front roll bar you have used as i need to mount one just the same as you have, was going to get a one off made but if there is a easier alternative then i'm all ears

Nice build!
I'd replace the long straight bits of samco hose with some ally tube, probably lighter, much stiffer and easier to mount to stop it wobbling around.
Also have you reinforced the ARB mounts?

The ARB is an e36 325i one, it bolts up to the same drop links as the e30 one then i welded a couple of pieces of 6mm steel to the chassis rails to mount the arb bushes to.
So to answer your question canswell, yes the mounts are reinforced
I am gonna see how the samco hose goes, it is pretty rigid atm but if it starts sagging i will be replacing it with alloy tube.
I started the wiring last night, does anyone have a wiring diagram of the ignition barrel??
I am moving all of my ignition to a switch so it would be nice to see what does what.....

I'm a complete noob to motorsport how does that pedal box work is it all hydraulic like the accelerator pedal aswell i know clutch and brake pedals are hydraulic even on standard cars but never seen a pedal box like that just wondering how it works and the theory behind it.

Hello mate, basically you have 2 master cylinders, one for the front brakes and one for the rear brakes, these are both pushed by the one pedal but with a balance bar to transfer the force from the one pedal to the 2 master cylinders.
The reason you do this is so you can adjust your front/rear braking proportion to acheave optimum braking.
Mine is completely adjustable from the dash board so if i find i need different braking on one stage to the other i can adjust the bar accordingly.
Google Bias pedal box for a full explination

I did a bit of tarting up over the weekend and painted my rocker cover bright white!

As i had the rocker cover off i also did the SBD modification of removing the baffle plate and cutting most of it off, apparently this stops the oil surge that xe's suffer from....
I also managed to split the fuse box and strip out all of the old bmw engine wiring loom which was actually a lot easier than i thought!

The car only did one hillclimb after which it was decided that to strip it down and sell it off for parts. I think after its perfomance tristan was a bit dissapointed with its performance. It just didnt justify itsself after the amount of cash which had been put into the conversion, in the end the gearing was all wrong, it lacked torque. Realistically it would need many more thousands spent on the gearbox and cams etc to better the bang for buck that you get with a cammed up M20B25. Hes since bought an e36 M3. Back to six pot rightness. Be warnedmagpie wrote:any vids of an event with the white top

Of course I know it´=it used to be mine. Dont think tristans got many e30 bits left tbh, I bought quite a lot of bits off him and all the conversion parts went on ebay. Shell was also sold in one lot minus the running gearross_jsy wrote:dont know what happened to any of tris' bits do ya?

Tris, im glad you have done all this work, as i am planning on doing the same to my compact now, but as its a road rally car, itll be on standard injection etc.
How did you get your prop made? Why didnt you get a bmw box converted to xe?
As i put a c20xe into my lada CLICK im not scared for the bmw.
What diff ratio will you use also? I have a 5.0 and im concerned if for example i put a tran x box in that first will be too long as it was a bit on the lada with a 4.4:1
keep the progress going!
