Alpina C2 2.7 touring. At the paint shop

Great work on this touring Simon. Great dyno results too
Well worth all the hard work.
The evolve dyno seems to be very generous with the torque anyhow.
Graph???

Good result! i recon thats about 100bhp up on mine
Well done Si, healthy power. It would be a dead heat bewteen ours to 70 I reckon.
Results are always fairly irrelevant until you start modifying it, its all about how it drives. Nice to get the AFR's checked out though.
Paul, shame about Monday, I was going to bring the 205 up, for a similar check after a new cam!

Fankyou
tis a good feeling when it all seems to be working, can't wait for some piggy back action!
Dave this run was done in the normal 4th gear. I've found so far that SRR and Sal's rollers run pretty dam close to each other
Ant i must confess to not fitting the tailgate yet
its planned for 2moro, Powelly is giving me a hand!
just going to post some graph results

I had my sport dyno'd on both Evolve and at SRR within a few hours of each other.oakey wrote:Great work on this touring Simon. Great dyno results too![]()

Graph???
The difference was 3 bhp and 3lbft.
SRR 182bhp, 187lbft
Evolve 185bhp, 190lbft
(from just a BTB2
Evolve has a bigger fan.

thanks Ant, looking at that as it is there is a good few areas that the UniQ could iron out i expect
Saying that it drives very nicely as is no dodgey spots in everyday driving, it doesn't like 2500rpm@60 mph part load, but it leans out there. This is the ecu as it did this originally with the pina cam fitted

Yeah, it looks like it will make more torque, but higher up the rev range if it was leaned out between 4200 and 5400 rpm. Also needs a little tidying lower down the rev range too which will push the torque up a little. Would have been nice to have hooked up a vac gauge on the intake somewhere to measure for restrictions. But then it maybe nicer to keep the AFM and its originality.Simon13 wrote:thanks Ant, looking at that as it is there is a good few areas that the UniQ could iron out i expect

Great results there Stainrod, good to see the hard work paying off for you:)
Ant/Sheps, would running the Alp on Super unleaded help with the leaning out?

No, it will run even richer, but if this car has only standard CR then super unleaded will possibly loose power, but we won't know that until we start to tune it. If ignition timing reaches negative power before detonation with 95RON, then it will definately loose power with Super 98 or 99RON. If the engine starts to detonate before negative power is seen, then it will need Super for more power.oguz327 wrote:Great results there Stainrod, good to see the hard work paying off for you:)

Bonnet, its almost like the 2dr!

The million dollar shot! Due to time the roof, bonnet, tailgate, rear bumper and wing mirrors are done.
Next weekend weather again hopefully she'll be fully paint corrected! or as good as it will get bar having a respray!
Looks very good so far i'm well pleased with it so a massive thanks to Steve for doing it. Hes starting up on his own so any zoners wanting their car cleaned the pro way get in contact! Powelly is his user name

No Dave, Steve says it can be added ontop of all this for the finishing touch.
I'll let Steve post up what stuff he used, zaino, and chemical guys are 2 names i saw in his boxes of potions!
Loving it i said on the very post on this car that with some love and serious spannering there was a good there and i think we are nearly there!
Just a tech 2 tailgate spoiler, some stripes and some more engine tinkering and it will be there.
Aircon anyone? Kind of wish i had fitted it when it was in bits but its no major heartache i guess!
Never ending with these really! I'm very happy with it as it is at the moment to be honest

If he has used Zaino on it, Don't waste your time with the wax except the day before a show.
Zanio is fantastic stuff but it is so damn good it won't allow the wax to adhere properly. Will work as a pre-show gloss though but will only last a week if you are lucky.
Looks stunning dude, I'm so jealous!

amazing how quick a chat can turn into 3 hours ! was great to meet you guys tooSimon13 wrote:goos to meet you guys today, never enough time!
just got back now, 548 miles clocked today
It was a good day all in all, for the first time ever Si was pretty good with the tea supply, something which I beleive Barry has passed comment on before, nice to meet you chaps from up north, I didn't envy your trip at all, you must have been knackered by the time you got home, I imagine a well earned beer was on the cards. Hopefully we'll catch up again at Gaydon.
I was having trouble trying to get a good polish/pad combo for the roof, the polish just kept drying out too quickly leaving very little work time, also the lack of sunlight really didn't help with inspecting what I had done as I don't have inspection lamps etc just yet.
The paint on these old cars is pretty hard so a cutting compund was the order of the day, Menzerna intensive polish was tried but it dried out to quickly, 3M fast cut plus wasn't much better, but on a Sonus SFX polishing pad and keeeping to a small work area I could just about stop it chucking lumps of polish everywhere, I finished up with some Menzerna final finish 106fa on a 3M finishing pad, this broke down really niceley and left really sharp reflections, even in the crap light we had yesterday, I topped it off with Zaino all in one temporarily, I just wanted to get some protection on the freshly polished paint and this stuff is so quick and easy to use and offers really good protection, I gave it a wipe down with some Zaino Z8 too, it smells so nice!!! I'm hoping to get my hands back on the car this week so I can finish the rest of the polishing and attack the interior, arches and wheels etc. I will probably use Zaino all in one again but with 2-3 layers of Z2 over the top of it, should leave a really wet looking gloss, just my personal preference, however I'll put what ever Si wants on it.
If anyone is interested, I used Meguiars super degreaser on the wheels, followed by Billberry wheel cleaner and Vikan brushes, the car was washed with Chemical Guys MaxiSuds and a Schmitt.

k, i never got round to some final shots but it twas mucho clean for Gaydon.
Anyhow i went to the isle of Mann a week or so ago, my old man was going over for the ManxGP, which is the non pro TT road race or a club level type event on his old 350,500cc race bikes from the 60's.
I took a few shots, some of the roads and scenery is majic over there, here is where we stayed. The name i forget at the moment, but it was just off the southern 100 course (this is a different road track from the TT course

clean at the moment, here is where we stayed @ greneby farm

Bike nutters during practice coming through here past the church. The roads shut each day @6PM for practice, qualifying each night.
Old man qualified with ease on the first session with a PB time of 90mph ave. They talk lap times in average speed over there as its 37 miles per lap! you read that right. The lap record holder is John McGuiness and his time is 130mph ave. Insane

I got up early each moring and went for a "lap" in the pina each day. Here we are at the famous boozer at Creg ne baa towards the end of the mountain section of the track.

A shot looking up back towards the mountain sections, god only knows what speeds they come through here at

Start finish straight/paddock, right by the police station in Douglas! They came through here in the newcomers race through the speed trap 150mph on the new bikes some of them. RIP a newcomer died this year. The only fatality in this years racing

just after the start finish straight, braddon hill (i think) i don't think they slow down much
here, looks worse than it is

This was a grisly moring up the mountain section on wednesdays "lap" Look how low the clouds are when the weather turns. They get lower and this part suffers with bad fog a bit like the ring can!
The road is awsome up there, theres no speed limit either! With the old man in the passenger seat as co pilot/navagator we where hitting 120 odd in a few parts up there! I did sh!t myself a few times but he knows the track so i took some blind faith in his wisdom. My bro-in-law struggled to keep up on the CBR bike behind!

Down at Cregnesh one afternoon, amazing view and you can see sealions!

derelict house by a large stream near where we stayed, it was forsale, loads of land.

More rain! this was the road leading to the farm we stayed on, it was very muddy and good for snaking the pina up the road in the wet!

All loaded up waiting to get on the seacat to liverpool, overall a great trip. Car was faultless, returned 32mpg on the cruise there and back can't complain
And thats it, great time. My fingers hurt!
