Lightened flywheel?

Hi

I am changing the engine on my car soon and was wondering about lightening the fly wheel. What gains will I expect by doing this? Also, how is it done? I have a mate who works for a machining company who would be able to do it but am unsure what to do and how much to take off.

Once machined you'd need to get it rebalanced too.

Which engine do you have?

It will mean sharper accelertion and more power to the wheels.
