I have come across an E28 535i rad but ive got a question before i buy it,
It is out of an auto car and has the oil cooler on the side, will this matter as i think it will be a touch wider than a non auto rad.
Thanks (in advance)
Edit* ive also read somewhere ill need the bottom hose off the E28,is this right?

my e28 rad only just fits between the front chassis beams and that has no oil cooler...

I'm pretty sure it will fit, but an old rad like that really isn't worth the having.

I've got a E28 m535 rad in my 3.5 cab and it is tight but fits fine.
I also got a rad support off a 318 at the breakers that bolts to the slam panel to hold the top off the rad from moving. Works a treat!

How cheap is cheap? I bought a brand spanking one from Advanced Cooling for £110 delivered. Given how often the top hose mount goes with age, I think it may be false economy.leeparkes wrote:This is the rad in question, looks a bit ropey but seller has asured me its only fin damage, plus its cheap

mine is just like that, just leave the oil cooler ports disconnected.
mine is also old, damaged and shitty and i believe to be the cause of my persistent tendancy for overheating. £110 from Advanced Cooling... hmm, was that price ic vat and postage? seems good for a M30 rad
do you have any contact details for them?

Yep, £110 incl VAT and delivered next day. Fits perfectly, looks good quality to me. Highly recommended.gareth wrote:£110 from Advanced Cooling... hmm, was that price ic vat and postage? seems good for a M30 rad

Saying that, my M30'd car still needs the electric fan a lot despite new rad, coolant, thermostat. I think the tight fit in the engine bay plus needing to have the cooling fan in front of the rad means the cooling system is always going to have to work hard.
