I'm currently uprating my 325i touring in preparation for a european road trip, taking in the 'ring along the way.
So, when I get back I've got this car that's been mildly uprated and I've been wondering what to do with it. I'm up in Newcastle upon Tyne and while I don't have the time to take part in a full racing calender, I'd like to be able to track the car (perhaps on some kind of run-what-you-brung day) or take part in the occasional race. The PBMW series seems only to be open to 318/320 owners, and besides if truth be known it's probably a little too serious for me.
Any advice or suggestions as to what's out there?

Croft used to be an excellent venue with loads of trackdays per year and is only just south of Darlington, however, since they lost thier recent court case against a neighbour they have been very heavily restricted and run very few public trackdays per year which is a real shame and a major dissapointment.

You could take the car to either Elvington (airfield track), Oulton Park, Cadwell Park or Knockhill for a public trackday as these are probably the four closest to us apart from Croft.

If you fancy doing dragstrip, run what you brung then the nearest place is York Raceway (about 10 minutes from Elvington), there are raceseries there that you could join in with too if you wanted to give it a go competively.

Thanks mate. I know Croft (been many times but never driven it) so perhaps I should check their site for public trackdays.
Drag racing isn't an interest of mine. Sorry if I mislead you with my use of "run what you brung".
What costs will I be looking at, approximately of course. I'd almost certainly trailer the car there, just in case it goes pop.

Most trackdays cost £150-£200 for a full day at the like of croft, oulton etc. (If you find any at croft then let me know as I would be interested in another day there this year if I can afford it.)

then you'll use a full tank of gas at least, then tyres and brakes wear out quicker but that is harder to gauge as it depends on your tyres and driving style on how quick they wear, they should still last a few full track days, then you have fuel costs to get there and back, trailer hire (if you are using one and don't have one already)

Try PBMW sister series

http://www.racingsaloons.com

we have a groing number of 325's in that for next year

or if you only wish to race locally look at your local BARC club that will concentrate on racing close to you

PBMW is far from serious though, we just hive off a professional vibe :lol More drinking and BBQ's go on than racing :)

We are at Oulton on 8th August if you want to pop over for a nose and chat, not racing myself so will be around all day for a chat if you make it.

I'm liking the sound of the BBQ's and drinking, lol.
At the moment the car doesn't have a cage fitted and, if possible I'd prefer either not to fit one at all or if I have to in order to get the car on track I'd like to go for a cage that doesn't stop the car being used as....well, a car really.
