i plan to tint the rear lenses on my touring do the indicators are red.

i have the red paint for it and i plan to mask the lenses up and spray them. i also plan to spray the whole lense in clear coat to make sure the finish is equal across the whole lense.

do i need to apply plastic primer before the clear coat where the red tinting paint has not covered?

i did the same thing, i did not use any primer just red tint and clear coat, then dried it and polished it with a drill/soft wheel and very fine polishing paste.

job jobbed, so far it as lasted about three years and now is just showning signs of the paint dulling - which actually does not look too bad!!
