my new cabs tapping a little and been told one of 3 things, so thought id check it out with you lot. Firstly the tappets (or eccentrics) could need adjusting, i seen the link for this so will be doing this soon.
Secondly, could be blowing exhaust manifold, been told sometimes these crack is this right?
And finally, a lad down the local grage said something about injectors? Can anyone enlighten me are these common M20 probs?

With the engine cold, stick your finger in the oil filler hole and feel a cam lobe to see if it's got ridges worn at either side. Very common on cars which have just been bought, as the owner has taken it to have the tappets done (cheap) to be told the camshaft is worn out and needs replacing (expensive), so they sell it telling the new owner it only costs Ԛ£20 to have the tappets adjusted.......
Of course it might just need the tappets adjusting.
I've got a set of injectors if it turns out to be them and you want some, but they are usually very reliable (so I'm told)
let us know how you get on.

God no!!!
I've done a couple of Head gaskets on the M20 and know a bit about how they wear their cams. I did my own and reconditioned my own cylinder head.
Just learnt through experience and trial and error.
I'm perfectly capable of looking after my own car and would gladly help with any jobs if I can find the time, but I'm no expert!

I'm sure there'll be someone in Harlow, but if you get stuck and you're down this way give me a shout.
