As above, the paint on my wheels is flaking off, can i nitromors the rest of the paint off without removing my tyres or will the stripper affect the rubber?

this might help pulled it off another forum when i did a quick search

"You can leave tyres on because you will leave a small line around the inner edge of rim. The reason for this is that if you remove all paint from where the tyre seats you could get tyre sealing problems as the aluminium oxidises under the tyre rim"

it was talking about a motorbike wheel and tyre but NOT specifically nitromors

this one below says NITROMORS IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH RUBBER.

i'm doing mine soon (polishing the wheels) and to be on the safe side im taking the tyres off - well a mate is - and its not too expensive.

good excuse to get new rubber if you need it thats what im telling my missus lol

Cheers for the info, just had new rubber on and been back to the tire place to get them re-balanced twice, got them just right now so didn't really want to remove them. Might have to look into getting them professionally refurbed.

i reckon if you mask the tyres really well - really well! you should be ok i would be pissed getting them taken off again if i'd done all that previously too!

suppose it depends what your going to do with them too? a powdercoat professionally is only cheap.

Didn't know wether to just spray them for now and get them done properly when the cars off the road in winter, can you post me some piccys of your wheels when you get them done

this is what a company in swansea can do and they quoted me £50 a wheel to polish them to this standard

only things is i'm miles from swansea!!! and if i try to do it myself i will either:
a) balls it up totally!!
b) get bored after the first one - cos apparantly it takes aaaaagggesss
c)get it right ? and save my self a fortune

Man thats shiney, do they have to be laquered when polished. Had engine casings on my motorbike polished and after a ride on a winters day the road salt ate them.

apparantly best not to laquer them, just re polish them like every time you use it! without fail! or its back to square one.

you can use wheel wax to give it protection.
