Welcome to the zone slider :D

Ditch the French wrinkley carrier like a bagette off the Eifel Tower and get the E30 as quick as possible, you will not regret it. Trust me I'm a doctor!

lol, cheers guys. one of the reasons i want to change is in fact the build quality issue....my pug rattles like a good 'un, even though most of the interior has been ditched..
ive basically been turning it into a track day car, but now i want a change. typical really!

thanks again guys!
im slowly working my way through the archives...
only prob is i really need to sell my 205 before i get another car as the driveway is getting full...oops!
can i ask, what is a standard e30 like to drive? handling wise (providing the suspension isnt fooked that is), and is the difference in power very noticeable between a 1.6, 1.8 and a 2.0? cheers :D

Welcome.

It depends on what you look at. My 316 (M10 carb) ran quite well, but once i got in my 318i I wondered why i even bothered with the 316. That said, I got another 318i which ran like a bag of shyte.
Some say the 320i is crap (but i can't comment on that one)
I don't dare jump in a 325i coz i might kill myself.

They're nothing like the 205 (I changed from a 1.9 to a 325 last year) the handling's nowhere as twitchy and the cabin's nowhere near as squeeky.

Pedals in the 205 are better for heel & toeing and the steering wheel will feel strangely high in the Beemer compared to the 205.

Other than that, they're miles better! No torque steer, no juddering through the steering when you break traction.

Wouldn't say they were any more or less forgiving than the 205 in terms of losing it though.

One last thing, I got BETTER economy out of the 325i than the 1.9 so don't necessarily buy one of the smaller engines on those grounds :)

EDIT> Oh it's you! Made it over from the 205GTidrivers then :) Hey do I get some kind of pyramid scheme reward for bringing in new people?
