Lhd S50 coolant pipe

I am sure that I saw someone on here fitting a S50 out of a lhd, and it had a nice steel pipe going around the back of the head to connect the expansion bottle ,
From what I can remember they werent sure there would be enought clearance in the e30 .
I have done a few searches but cant find this article ,
Its just I am getting ready to start my one S50 build and would love to know will this pipe fit because I would prefer to keep my expansion bottle up at the battery tray . I dont want to pay 60 quid for one from bmw and then find it wont fit .

It fit's but you might need to use a hammer a little bit and make a tad more room.
Look at my S50 swap thread, there are pictures of the pipe.
Another thing, what hose are you going to use for this??

I looked through your thread and completly missed that Uwe !
I dont know what hose I will use yet Uwe I have lots of bits and pieces of coolant hose lying about at home .
Is the second little pipe for the little return line from rad to expansion tank ?

Hi,

If you route the water expansion return feed pipe
around the rear of engine in front of the bulkhead then
make sure its a metal pipe, rubber can collaspe
or get squashed with engine movement etc in this location.

Had I kept my car I was going to modify and
copy the S54 design by returning from the expansion tank
into the water pump, and blank off the original return
on the 'Y'.

Would make for a shorter hose return, and easy
to remove etc.

I fitted this pipe on my S50 and it went in with no problems in an E30 M3.
