Fi, you have said once before that you arent my sister under a psuedonym..... now I have to ask.... are you sure. Your sense of humour is the same as hers, you do the same work......beemerbird wrote:I install and maintain pro lighting and sound systems.
Just spent the last three days at Wembley Stadium swapping out some speakers in advance of the Oasis gigs (first night tonight) which involved lowered massive speaker clusters 50m into the seating area and replacing broken speaker drivers.
So, what do E30 owners do when they aren't Zoning?

I used to sub-contract to AEI Music doing the same thing. Did some interesting installs. Most interesting I think was installing a 6-ton, 36 screen rotating video cube at Squares in Swansea. Also did some big installs for the (now defunct over here) Dave & Busters chain.
Didn't do any gig work, was mainly pubs and nightclubs. The clubs were cool as it meant I got to take along a bag of vinyl to use as test material

Kingdoms are run by Kings, Dictatorships are run by Dictators, England must be a Country.
I build firetrucks / fire vehicles for a living.
I like my job pretty much all the time. It's hard work and stress for some periods, but in the end I enjoy it very much
And of course, having access to a lot of materials (Mostly aluminum), and a lot of useful equipment for fabricating stuff is great. The TIG welder is very useful for own use ;) ;)
My hobbies are photography, graphic designs (2D and 3D), my girlfriend, cars, cars and cars... everything mechanical. And of course my E30 M3. That's about it...
Got some pics if it's of any interest

But we mosly build normal fire and rescue vehicles, as this one.

And my E30 M3, at my work... after I pulled the engine out.

Okey, enough pics from me...

That's the new standard for the fire vehicles here in Norway.robbo86 wrote:I love that flourescent coloured Fire engine, looks so diferent to the normal red one!
It's not decided by the law or anything, but as the ambulances changed color to this color (Named "Rescue Yellow") the fire vehicles changed after a while too...
The last two years we've only built three red vehicles (One of them is the Bronto lift seen on the pics), the rest of them were yellow.
I don't know which one I like best, but since almost all the new vehicles we produce is yellow, it's nice to see a red one once in a while too
My Golf has just got disgusting over the past 3 years - it's like a bloody disease. I love that my E30's boot swallows 2 big sets of clubs.SPADGE wrote:I am a pro Golfer
Actualy i'm not but i probably play as much as one
Very underrated, the E30 boot.
SOMEone on here must have a Ferrari or Lambo.
Even if it's a Mondial or Jalpa lol!
I don't know if you guys in the UK (and other places) will follow the same standard.
I see that germany is still making almost only red fire vehicles, so does Sweden. It's actually depending on which fire department here in Norway that order the vehicles, as there ain't no standard color. So... we'll see. After a while, maybe the trend will turn around and every vehicle goes red again

Good to know that, incase i'm over there driving down the road and see a massive yellow thing I'll know what it is... if I remember!
I called a fire-engine out once, after picking up some mates from a club, about 2 or so months back. There was a "green-wheelie-bin" a-blaze in a car park nearly setting alight to all the foliage surrounding it. When they came down they let us play with the hose and stuff... made my night
Trust jersey for that to be in the paper the next day. "Kid's setting bins on fire in car park!"

Uni is killing the project.
I did a fire brigade version of a St John Ambulance course, let us do all sorts. Crawl through the smoked filled training building, use the hoses, show us the equipment and hose races (get them out, set them up, break them down, put em away again) was real good fun actually.
I got a bollocking once for "accidentally" aiming too high and getting water over the fence into the co-op car park

During my stint in the RAF Cadets at college we went the the Honnington air base. We played a number of games involving those hoses which were quite fun.... namely using those hoses to stop the other team approaching.... a few people got a bit "hurt" :rolf:

Work takes up most of my time. I move large things around by train. Big project from last year:-
