Would kinda defeat the point though wouldn't it? Seeing as 535is are reasonably plentiful and more powerful? Would have thought you'd want to be pushing 250+ horsepower to make a non-standard engine swap worthwhile. It'd be better on fuel, but there's not a lot of point swapping engines for fuel economy - the money you save on fuel is always going to be offset by the cost of the swap and the likely increase in insurance costs caused by the very fact of the modification.
I guess there must be a few V8 e28s around - anyone know?

I see your point, but if you had a nice clean 518 or 520 you may consider it ? I guess there is a reason why it is not very popular.
As for V8s, there is an nice M60 one in Holland and an S62 in the states that is stripped and caged that gets drifted a fair bit

Teaser Scott....

Actually, now my M30 is running sweetly I would not bother with with an M50, it sounds immense and pulls like a train. The M50 is ok but doesn't sound as good as it is the small weedy six. I was always disappointed with the 530i for that reason, the E28 with the M30 is proper mans car.
