just wondering as i need to have my car off the road for the minimum amount of time when the s50 goes in so for initially i was thinking of running with no servo.. however you then need some form of mount for the master cylinder, seein the the servo already has the points i was wondering if you could cut one down or something to serve as the mount for the master cylinder..

Right whats inside a standard brake servo? if you were to cut one up is there anything solid inside? and would the brakes still work albeit without servo assistance..

I don't see why you can't cut it up and weld a bit of metal between the two mounts to keep the spacing. I think there is just a digaphragm (agghhh sp?) in the middle.
Try this mate http://auto.howstuffworks.com/power-brake.htm

My god that's so simple and clever
Oh you would have to relly ram the brakes to stop!!!!

Have a word with Ian332i and ask how he mounted his master cylinder.
He doesnt have the servo with his hydraulic set up. Thinking about it, that might not work, cause I guess the hydraulic bit goes where the servo should be

Wouldn't recommend removing the servo, it really does make a lot of difference. Ever been in a car being towed with the engine off, try braking like that and see how hard it is, that's more or less what you will have all the time. Back to the good old days of PUMP AND PRAY!!

i've tried mine without a servo (ignition off) and i could lock the brakes in the wet
i am running 280mm M3 fronts atm possibly to be replaced with 315mm m5 ones so have a much larger diameter to lever on..
it would only be for a bit, i dont drive the car that much tbh
