Hi i'm new to the forum and bmw's so hello.

Right now i'm looking at some yamaha R1 tb's they seem fairly inexpensive so thought it good idea for some cheap roaring action :)

Obviously theres a whole lot of work to fit them like cutting up a manifold checking the distance then welding a tb mounting face. fuel rail, injectors, ecu etc etc

I've searched for this topic already but no show, has anyone done this before?

also i've probably read some pub talk but does the 1.8 16v have a forged bottom end??

On the manifold, contacting a company called bogg brothers ( http://www.boggbros.co.uk ) would be a good start if you want one made for you.

I don't think the 318 IS engine (M42) has a forged bottom end but a few folk on here run over 200bhp with superchargers and no bottom end issues.

Edit, didn't notice your post count :o:

Welcome to the E30Zone, it sounds like a good project your planning :D

lol hi

Good link on the manifold i did a quick search and came up with some polo forum. The bloke had a set made up for r6 tb's roughly £170 and another had one done for £230. Not bad not bad at all i was thinking alot more due to custom jobbies.

I will have to make some inquiries and do a run down on costs! but i reckon with ecu etc a grand or so.
