A friend and I have recently developed this prototype below to reinforce the rear roll bar mounting point on his track car. The current design uses a small braket which is not only a pain to fit but after many years become very weak.

Furthermore, when fitting overzied, aftermarket bars and bushes the brackets can often bend and distort.

The below has been designed to stop this from happening and reinforce the mount, eliminating the possibility of bending the bracket and distorting the mounting point.

The part is made out of aluminium alloy, and simply requires one hole to be drilled throught the boot floorpan for fitment; it is then bolted down with two penny washers and some nylock fittings. It will work with standard or aftermarket rollbars as it is the bush hole diameter that changes with roll bar sizes, not the bush itself.

I need to get two sets made up anyway and so am looking to do a group buy on these if anyone is interested. Price will really be dependant on how many names i get. Similar items, (ireland engineering and turner do some) will cost around $100, so once they have been shipped and taxed, will end up costing between £90-£120 to get over here. These will cost considerably less for a pair.

Below are some shots of the prototype that has been made.

And this is what needs to be done; basically the bracket is bolted in using the bottom bolt first, then using a centre punch or pen, you can mark the floorpan were the second hole needs to be drilled to accept a 10mm fixing:

I think this part is quite important on fast road/track cars especially if you have uprated roll bars or bushes.

Regards, Dan

Looks interesting, do you have a rough cost for say 5 or 10 sales?

I have been having a think about this as well, are you planning to have them tie in with the subframe bolt? along with a reinforcement plate?

Pretty much yes, ít will involve two fixings, a bit like the above design but without the 90 degree bend basically. I should have a cad rendition by the end of the week.

Am working on that quick as i can. I think for ten names it will be x amount, then for 15 and 20 or so it will be considerably less but it looks like only ten purchases initially.

Just saying:

This looks VERY similar to the Ireland Engineering Sway Bar Mounts, which have been available for several years.

I have a set of these with a Whiteline 16mm rear bar, works very well...

Yep, kind of were the inspiration came from but i thought that drilling a blind hole to fit the rear bolt would be slightly interesting for people without access to proper tools. Also. shipping US stuff over here is a long, expensive process from my experience.

Glad to hear they work :)
