A question about the weave-coated rubber hose that goes from the tank, through the arch, to the top of the filler neck:

They are pricey new from BMW and I was wondering if it would be very bad of me to replace it with heavy duty PVC garden hose? PVC hose has good resistance to petrol and is approximately the right internal diameter.

Does this breather hose need to have any other special properties that would prevent me from substituting it with garden hose?

I got the same fabric braided rubber hose from Demon Tweeks
I was quite reasonable if I remember, its on their web site
I would not use anything like garden hose, its the wrong diameter
its not safe and looks sh*te

Right, thanks for the advice. I'll probably wait and get the proper stuff, but I was just curious to hear if anybody had tried an alternative.

I wasn't too bothered if it looked sh*te as you'll never see it once its fitted.
