I have read all 36 pages on the M50 swap a few times and and stuck with the wiring of the e30 plug onto the e36 loom.
Both my e30 and the e36 have different colours and pin possitions to the list brian mooooore put up on the thread. I am confussed please help.

The fuse box plug on the e30 (witch is suposed to be an m20 loom) are

1 blue
2 blue black
4 brown purple
5 brown black
6 green yellow
7 green
8 yellow white
9 black
10 purple green
11 white blue
13 purple red
14 blue yellow
15 black green
18 black yellow

Also on the thread it says pin 1 &2 on the e34 plug are used with my e36 loom they are not i am stumped. Can i buy the pins for the plug from bmw?

Thanks guys

The pin numbers in the thread are for the engine loom side of the plug, not the fuse box side, most of the wires change colour through the plug.
1 and 2 on your E34 loom are for the oil level sender, E36 M50's didnt have this. It can be wired up if you have a sender in the sump and the overhead check control by removing the plug/wires from your E34 loom

Look up the BMW ETMs for the year and model of each car (readily available via Google or emailing me), which should give you the correct variant colours. Pins often work out the same but different colours.

Or buy Ian332iSport a beer and a curry. - He'd probably help you anyway, but is such an unsung hero that it should be common practice to feed and water him while he's slaving over the Electronic Troubleshooting Manuals for us 24v convertors... :)
...or is it?

Cool i will leave the sender off then no trouble there. I took the colours from the fusebox side mate pulled the rubber protector back and looked at the wires but if the colours arnt important then happy days. I need the pins as i have a blank plug is it best to go too the dealers for them?

I have the sender and the plug on the sump dan. If i wire the two chopped wires from the plug in the sump straight to pins 2 and 10 in the plug for the e30 will that work? Cheers mate

You can buy the pins from the dealers or RS Components
