OBD plug intact on the loom, Lee? - I could have brought Carsoft down and gone to York this weekend, you spam.

If the plug is there, get yourself on eBay.
...or is it?

Yes just clean the throttle body - no need to take it off. I was astonished at the difference it made to be honest!

I don't think I said it before but WELL done! At last :D

fuel is brand new fresh stuff after the tank was drained & refurbed and new lines fitted front to back. I had to run down the road and get another £5 can full as it did nearly run out.

Steve, I got the yellow lights from a zoner in Belguim, Lennerd. Genuine yellow hellas

Lee, I assume the battery has been disconnected during your lenghty project. I've sometimes had mine off for a while and it seems to take half an hour or so of (horrible) driving for it to remember what kind of car it is.

You probably need to get it off that gravel!

Did you just push it there? winkeye

I traced most of my issues to a dodgy earth lead!
Sounds crazy, the old lead tested perfectly, both on the car and off,but a new one transformed the way it ran.
Had a new lead made up to replace the engine to frame one on the n/s,and for good measure an extra one from the o/s mount direct to the battery neg. terminal.
The two bits cost £12,I had already replaced the lambda, two blue sensors,MAF.....
Anyway, good to hear that it drives, brake pedal about the correct hieght?Brake lights going out when they should?Got those doors to unlock yet?MoT booked?

I think I will look at replacing the earth leads as I recall the problems you had Malcolm.

I can't even recall there being an earth lead on the passenger side, just the one on the driver side from the engine support to the chassis rail.

Brakes just need another bleed as tonnes of air in there still, the eezibleed thing I got is crap as the caps don't fit the reservoir properly and as soon as you pressurise it just spews brake fluid out the top and down the chassis rail etc.

Sorry for the H/jack, but mine runs lumpy and idles lie a pig, so i'll be changing my earth leads too.

Mine is going in Saturday so I will check the earth. Isn't it on the different side on m50. Can I swap the m50 to the other side to use the pas side earth point on the chassis? That was my plan anyway.

You only need 5-10psi in the tyre Lee, if you run it with the full 30psi it will piss out everywhere.

(Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but I remember not reading the instructions properly when I first used one 20 odd years ago.)
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

You checked the plugs?

All earths?

Getting 14.7V across the battery?

Is it a lumpy idle or a hunting one?

Lambda?

TPS? Or something not plugged in the right place?

Only missing on idle?

Speedo working?

LOL, I did have 30psi in the tyre I was using

Dan, it's a lumpy idle but a rough one too, the engine just feels coarse. Not whipped the plugs out as they are new but I guess they may tell a story as to what each cylinder is doing.

Also, the S50 manifold had 2 sensors on it, i'm only using one of them which had a different plug connector to what is on the engine loom, but the lambda that was on the x pipe (which I'm not using) had the same plug as on the engine loom. Are the 2 sensors on the S50 different?

It misses under initial load when being driven

I could if I could get the other one out of the bottom of the downpipe, but it is solid and pretty inaccessible and I'm damned if I'm taking this bloody manifold off again unless I absolutely have to.

edit, I'm not using the x pipe

I know this might sound a bit daft but I had a missfire with mine when I first got it going. I pulled the top off the plastic channel with all the wiring to the injectors then I felched around with all the wires and touch wood it has never done it again!

I've not been happy for a while with my engine, making all sorts of rattles and noises coming from the bottom end. Probably from running on chocolate milk courtesy of the previous incumbant.

So spotting Everett's for sale thread I jumped in the car this morning and went and had a butchers. I'm gonna take the whole car off his hands, rape the bits I need, sell the leather and other morsels and get the M52 lump installed.

So I'll have a couple of M50 morsels to sell, such as the Schrick cams (Dezzy has first refusal on them) plus the converted loom and non-vanos ECU. I'll probably take the head off and sell that as it has been skimmed and pressure tested and throw the bottom end in the bin.

So a setback but hopefully for the better. Will of course stick the M50 inlet manifold on the 52.

Gonna collect the car tomorrow and see where we go from there

Just when it looked like it was nearing completion... Fair play though, you should end up with a sweet result - or will you spot an S50 for sale just as the M52 gets near the public highway, and start it all again?

Looking forward to many more pages of a quality thread - solid zone gold!

Well insurance sorted for 1 day for the dirty-six, train ticket booked, we'll see how it goes tomorrow. Hopefully no dramas.

As for S50, naah, there'd be a small block chevy in there

Indeed, I had a think about things and thought to myself that I'm just kidding myself with those noises and the shoddy running of it, thinking it'll be alright and then the thing shits itself when I'm using it as a daily or worse still, at the pod :)

I've obviously got a little more experienced taking these lumps in & out now so with the exception of the wiring (which is being sorted) the rest is bolt on stuff, so shouldn't set me back by a massive amount of time.
