As above, lots of good info there - if not then there's a Polish website dedicated to TDS's !
Can't remember link but use a bit of google translation and it's very good

I used to have one of these with the same problem. Its a common problem thats not a cheap fix. The manuals suffer from them more (something to do with engine being under load in autos and higher revs) as do omegas with the bmw diesel engine.
The problem is a failing diesel pump. It will cost around 1k to rectify and needs to be done by a specialist as a special tool is needed to lock the pump up.
However, i can help the car drive better and stall less. Add around 50% veg oil to your diesel in the tank and see how she runs! (Im not kidding either - i sold the car like this on ebay advertizing that it runs better on veg oil/bio diesel - i mentioned the pump issue btw!!!)

It'll be cheaper to maybe buy a donor E36/Omega/P38 tds and swap the bits!
Maybe try to bypass the EGR valve, recently done this on mine to stop the inlet manifold getting full of sh1t!
These can be expensive to fix but don't be put off by this, a lot of people dismiss them and say how sh1te they are!
Mine runs sweet - done 8k in mine in the past few months with no real issues and loving the 700miles I can get from a tank
Get it fixed
