I forgot the real boy-racer stuff....StuBeeDoo wrote:I can't be ar53d to read the whole of this thread, but I have a question.....
As my 320i Touring has gained the following mods under my ownership;-
2.7 engine
3.64 diff
Recaro seats
MTech2 valance
MTech tailgate spoiler
7x15 et13 MiM1900 wheels (right size, wrong offset)
Scorpion back box
MTech1 steering wheel of the 370mm flavour
Glass sunroof panel
.... does the OP consider me to be an "idiot boy racer" or a "genuine E30 custodian" (quotes taken from his original post)? I know what I consider myself to be, I'd just like to know if he concurs.
BTW, my grammer ought to be OK as I got an A-level in English Language - but that was 34 years ago, so I could well be a bit rusty by now. .....And that should give-away my age. Perhaps, in my case, "boy-racer" should be substituted with "wrinkly-racer" - if the OP deems it necessary.

It's funny, any group of people anywhere form some sort of common interest 'club' and before long there are egos at play, backstabbing and slagging, grudges, rivalry and all sorts.
I've even seen this in the most unlikely places such as churches (!) and wildlife groups. Butterfly enthusiasts are the worst - trust me!
Anyway, glad some members have found this an engaging string, even if I have been a bit clumsy and judgemental.

Thats one of the funny things about this place. You'll get all the help and advice you need for anything from fixing an electrical problem to fitting body kits and stupid engines. Anything you need is on here from concours cars to chav styled cars to the god damn aweful (depending on taste!).StuBeeDoo wrote:I wouldn't worry about it Dude. This forum is incredibly active and helpful, yet there are some true characters linguring around!

Yup agreed. Everyone takes the mick out of my fibregash but they are the same people who are usually very willing to answer questions when I'm trying to fix something.NayC wrote:Thats one of the funny things about this place. Exactly! Thats why I love this place. I have only got more than 20 posts on one other forum and that is forum.asp.net as randomers on there help me out occassionally with programming problems for my Job. I think i have like 30 posts... yet on here 1300+ (man I'm sad...E30Gheko wrote:Yup agreed. This is by far the best forum I've come accross on the net. ASP forums are much more active, many more users and 20K posts in almost all of its sections... but its all boring work related problem solving, thats it. Here can be pretty entertaining reading some of the threads for a few hours!

Uni is killing the project.
The shops looked at it and it's going to be tricky getting the dents out and keep a good finish.gazm3 wrote:You managed to get Alec's handy work on the roof sorted?.
I've been putting alot of resources into the mechanics of the car and the exhuast system. It had no hanning mounts for the gearbox and there were other clamps missing which has caused me loads of trouble. finally as of this morning all the exhuast is hanging right and there is no leaks on the system ( even the manifold is tight now ). It was due to have the wheel arch and rear dent fixed this week but due to the exhuast problems I couldn't get it there so more delays on it. I also have to get a new drivers door onit as the current one is from the orginal shell and it's gone at the very bottom. I had the body kit off recently and everything is all clear underneiath so there is no rot set in which is a god sent!
Inside the rear pannels have been changed from the black vynal to houndstooth and Houndstooth rear heasrests are installed. Also got new mats which has really made the interier look brilliant.

They are in Bournemouth still Mic. I was going to have them done in the winter. I'm doing the body work in stages and having things blended as I decided to go against a full respray as it doesn't need it in the current condition. If my case goes through and I get some readies I'm going to have it stripped and done and get myself a B6S as my other car

Chaviest may well be a word, but 'most chaviest' is not good English at all. Most chavvy perhaps.E30Gheko wrote:What a read!
I'm 35, I have an A level in English literature, a degree in law, I run my own business, I love E30's and I drive arguably one of the most chaviest (yes it's a word) E30's on the Zone.
You don't like it? REALLY? I don't care.![]()

Nope,
OP has just bumped it in an attempt at humour with a 23 day run up !!!
What a tool !!
BMW's are a certain type of car that appeal to a certain type of aspirational person alot of the time, and those people dont necessarily always have good taste !! I expect a lot of owners on here are the more sypathetic type who at least try to look after their cars rather than just sticking chrome arch strips and Halfrauds own brand rims on them !!
I cant wait to murder an E30cab when the right one pops up for disassembly !!!
Hehehe

Indeed !!
It seems the concept of irony is dead here, I wonder what the average age of user is on this forum, perhaps that might shed some light on the "talent"

Thanks for bumping the thread. I've just seen it and would like to point out that despite my username I don't have tinted windows, a bodykit, huge alloys (they were stolen) and the only lairy modification to my car is a welded differential.
I realise the diff thing might ruin some people's opinion of me but as far as I'm concerned if anyone is that worried about the future of the E30 why not go and buy some standard ones? Mine cost me £500 and if it had been more money I might think twice about potentially ruining it when I tint my rear windows (purely to stop chavs from seeing/nicking my drift wheels), paint it camouflage (after fixing the rust of course) and then, inevitably, smash it up good.
I'm disappointed that this site is drawn together by one car and yet still seems to be able to split into two camps.
