Just fitted the throttle cable grommet thingy, thanks Chris.

Think I'm going to need to tidy up the plumbing a little underneath the throttle body area as there are a few pipes which look like they could interfere with the thottle or cause it to get stuck.

New brake pipes will be here thursday and hopefully the servo by the weekend, trouble is the outlaws are coming to stay Friday- Monday, grrrrrrr

Just a wee update. Tonight in the rather pleasant weather I replaced both of the front brake pipes from the ABS unit to the wheel house on each side. The passenger side wasn't too much fannying about but the driver side one was. What a knob end for not doing this when the engine bay was empty.

The new pipes I bought from BMW were a pain in the arse so I ended up making some up with cunifer. Fitted the Goodridge front hoses also.

Just got to take the master cylinder off again and shorten the spacer a bit as I'm only getting about half travel on the pedal without the pipes connected upto the master cylinder. Then it'll be time for the eezi-bleed to come out the box and see how bad my pipe flaring skills have been :)

Then finally find a way how to get the doors to unlock and final tidy up and in for the MOT, mo-fo

All sorts mate, should be plenty of American Superstock but there is also an old skool ford thing going on as well as the normal assortment of stuff from classic rails and slingshots to RWYB fodder.

Weather wise, there doesn't seem to be much in it, threat of light showers Saturday & Sunday

It drives! :)

Been to the end of the cul-de-sac and back a couple of times, ticks over like a bit of a dog still and isn't generally running right but it's a step in the right direction.

Brakes need bleeding more.

Hope I can figure out this rough running issue though

Indeed, I had to take a picture of it parked on a different bit of the driveway, just for the novelty factor alone lol

I ran it upto temp so it was just creeping over half on the gauge, but I can't drive it anywhere until it's MOT'd. I hope a drive will sort it out but to be honest I'm not confident it will. (already thinking about B28 lumps lol)

Congrats Lee! A real milestone indeed! Shame about the lumpy running but I'm sure it must be fix-able. Great to see it parked at the end of the drive! 8) 8) Did u get ur seats fitted? - guess you must have! lol

Coils is a possibilty. I probably am gonna find myself chasing around the engine bay repacing unnecessary shite, but it may be the only way of sorting it.

These M50 turds can't have a diagnosis like carsoft plugged in can they?

Most dio readerschave the plug that goes in the service re set plug if your usinging itvin your loom. Otherwise it's just replace unnessery shit till you find the aswer. Unless you know a genious from the good old day who can put his finger on the problem from 10 paces

To be honest I don't know where to start and have already run out of talent, it's usually something ridiculous but I'd rather throw another lump in than waste £200+ buying coils and all sorts of shizzle. The only good thing I know about this engine is the head ain't cracked lol

Lee I had lumpy running and a hunting idle for ages. I changed most sensors and engine parts in the search for a cure for a different problem but no luck! What did cure it was cleaning the throttle body, inlet elbow and buttefly :) Worth a shot as it's free!

Dave, cheeky raasquart, you've got a point mind you :)

Cheers Daf, I'll give that a go. When you say cleaned out the throttle body, what do you mean, give it a good spray of carb cleaner and wipe out the inlet and butterfly or take it to bits and clean? The inlet elbow is new and I don't think i have any vacum leaks.

I personally think the engine sounds like a bit of a bag of spanners

Do the M50 engines suffer with the crankt pressure valve issue? My mate had an E36 touring with the M52/323 lump that had a hideous idle and replacing that solved it. Quite common from what he had been told.
