before and after procedure for clay bar use?

Just been readibg through a few threads on here abot using the clay bars and they look realy good but was just wondering what the process is of using one?

Take it you

wash
shampoo
wash off
shame
Polish
claybar
wax?

Or no polish stage just wash shame clay wax?

Never used they caly bar before just zaino polish and detailer

I'd clay before you start to polish, ie give the car a wash, then clay, then polish/wax etc...

wash/claybar/wash again if you want/polish/wax/rubber care/tyre black/ glass cleaner/detail wheels / i better stop now

I agree - polishes/waxes etc come after the initial clay bar stage. The clay will lift off the bonded contaminants allowing the polish and wax to really make a difference.

I did mine recently and was quite amazed by the results ~ I did it in this order:

wash with washing up liquid to remove all crap
rinse (extremely well!)
clay bar
wash with car shampoo
polish
wax
admire

Great stuff ill give it ago and see what happens, is meguires clay bar and wax any good? any better ones that are worth the extra money??

Wow theres alot of different meguiars stuff out there can anyone recomend a good pace to start?

Thinking about getting the clay bar starter kit (what grade?) and then a finishing wax but which one?

Did some one do a "meguiars how to" in the articals section on the old zone? wheres that gone?? cant find it

I haven't tried the Meguiars, opted for a sonus clay bar (ermmm fine I think, the green one!) and used some AG HD Wax which I might add, I was mighty impressed with - picked up a tub from Ebay for £25 rather than shell out the best part of £40 or whatever it is down at Halfords.

Saying that though, I am by no means an expert!

OH and just thought I should mention (so you can learn from my mistakes!! haha!) after clay bar and final wash, make sure your car is COMPLETELY dry before polishing / waxing, I used AG Extra Gloss Protection and it has done a fantastic job of sealing in the water marks on the bonnet that I left behind thinking "oh well its practically dry ...."

Thanks for the info thats the guide i was looking for! looks like will have to go back and order some applicator pad jobs.

3 step cleaner/polish/wax
2 x claybars with detiler
3 x microfibre polishing cloth
