I know E30s are not museum pieces and need to be used but I have to wonder about some of the horrible 'improvements' made to many of the cars proudly paraded on this site.
Can you imagine E-Type owners adding stupid spoilers, non-standard wheels, 'smoked' glass and all that rubbish to their cars? There seems to be a split between genuine E30 custodians and idiot boy racers on this site - of all sites.
The image of this modern classic is going to be tarnished if we're not careful. And while I'm ranting, the boy racers can't spell either.

what about the older members who highly modify their cars and can spell to an acceptable standard?

I see the older members' grammar and spelling is pretty poor too.

Sorry, there was no need for that. I apologise: I'm no grammarian really. I just get annoyed about some of the revolting E30s on here, but I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that and no offence meant.

Nice way to introduce yourself.... You'll go far.

Oh and I'll wager that several E-Types have been bastardised over the years; but it's a rarer car so not as widespread. Also it's not as contemporary; so there won't be as much rubbish available for them.
The e30 is fast becoming a very desirable classic car... watch this space. Or site in this case!

Seany

Yeah, sorry again. Should have engaged brain first. Having said that, there are some totally tasteless cars on here and the site does seem torn between Max Power and Classic and Sport.
I know what I prefer.

You sure? I certainly see less chavved up examples round here than a few years ago... That'll be natural selection in action I guessBEERBOY123 wrote: The image of this modern classic is going to be tarnished if we're not careful. And while I'm ranting, the boy racers can't spell either.

It's a broad church, all are welcome to come and steal the wafers and neck the wine. I'm a 27 year old who likes a nice standard e30. I also have a beard, an English degree and a subscription to Classic and Sports Car, but don't tell anyone...
Best not to judge, I reckon.

E30's are getting into the right hands - Not to many counciled up F***ers!
E36's are sort of getting there - Few stunners but quite a lot are dogs!
E46's are getting counciled up more and more often as they become affordable!
E90's are still new and are all in pretty good original condition!
By the way this is just my opinion!

As long as the owner is happy then I see no issue.
I know Magpie and I have very different tastes in what should be on a e30 but it does not mean I have any less respect for him as a zoner and there is actually more reason for us to chat about stuff due to us having different ideas.
Also how does driving attitudes have a reflection onto how well someone can spell or use grammer? I know I am defiantly not a boy racer but I know my spelling and grammer are shocking at the best of times.

I accept all the above, I just get cross because good E30s are a finite resource. Having said that, the more that get modified and spolit, the more mine will be worth.
And I have twelve English degrees, so there.

you are probably right, but these 'types' come and go, the true enthusiasts will always remain ...
it is quite suprising how many 'young' zoners there are registered here with good taste and do keep their cars original

When Escorts I & II reached a certain age, they too were "chavved up" to use a modern term. Currently the E30 is at that stage.
In time the council scrap will die and the good ones will remain. If any modifieds do survive, looking at other makes, then the likelihood is they will be returned to near std as they change hands in future years.

If you have twelve English degrees (or even one or two) you should be more aware of the dangers of thinking in dichotomies. E30s range from straight from the factory to mad bodykit tat, they don't divide into original and spoilt.

I feel like I'm getting hammered here- possibly quite rightly - for defending the E30.
Is this the E30 Zone or not? Have I taken a wrong turn?

You're really doing well at ingratiating yourself to this forum aren't you? There's no law against bad spelling or modifying cars - live and let live, or fuck off. It's a pretty simple choice.BEERBOY123 wrote:I accept all the above, I just get cross because good E30s are a finite resource. You are defending only your own limited conception of the e30. Thats the problem.BEERBOY123 wrote:I feel like I'm getting hammered here- possibly quite rightly - for defending the E30.

You're a touchy lot aren't you?
Flipping hell, chill out. I've said I mean no offence and that I accept all the comments above. Does nobody else get vexed about the bastardisation of this lovely car?
