I have just put my 15" kicker sub and directed amp in my e30 cabby. I am pumping quite alot of bass at the moment.
two things that bother me a bit are:
1) boot panels rattle like CRAZY. The number plate holder is shaking like its armageddon .
2) amp gets quite hot.
I think the space is quite confined and there ain't where for air to ventilate around, or no cold air feed from outside. It's just like a boiler room in there.
Anyone got a way around this or any tips? With electrical things, I always prefer prevention before cause.
Amp getting too hot - common thing in the e30 boot?

1. Get some Dynamatt fitted to the whole boot, will help with the rattle/shake
2. You could install a couple of small electric fans that power up along with the amp, i did this in my uncles e39.

a photo of your install may help.
amps are designed to be installed in one orientation as the heat sinks are normally on the top, mounting an amp to look good at an angle can cause excessive heat build up - and eventual failure of the amp.
i run my amp in my cab boot too, i also removed the rear number plate surround, but as aboev dynamat helps things quite a lot.
there are aslo some air vents hidden behind the bumper, removing the rubber flap allows a bit more air to flow in/out of the boot but be careful for moisture getting in there now.
