Thought it might be something different, a lot of work ahead but rekon it'll be worth it.
Looks like i'll be going to Moffat coming weekend so be able to get some good pics of car before i start. Just finnished fabricating front subframes so Recaro's should be fitted tomorrow, rear seat may be a problem might have to strip cloth and retrim bmw rear seats.

Is your sig more or less what the plan for it is?

If so, for the rear side windows.... is the center pillar going to be like the C-pillar on a saloon in order to fit the saloon rear quater windows and then get some custom glass made up for the rear most side windows?

Good chance to fit some pop-out windows then too :)

Looking forward to the end result, 3 door M3 arched touring has so much potential winkeye

Looks good. Don't like the raised bit at the back of the skirt though, it's too long. Also how about a square or small numberplate instead of blocking the bottom grill?

Was browsing web and found this picture just had to use it as my sig. The plan is a 2door tourer with M3 bodykit but the finnished look may be a lot different from sig pic.

I purchased accident damaged 2 door saloon (waiting delivery), need to cut the sides off it and see what my best options are, its going to be trial and error and lots of changes throughout this build but if i take my time and dont rush it i will end up with something unusual and cool looking i hope time will tell.

Maybe a silly question but do you know what your doing?

Are you a panel beater? Body fabricator? Can you weld and I mean weld not bird shit but actually weld?

I ask this because this has the potential for disaster, you are seriously altering the body. Its not a game, you will drive this car at speed and if not properly engineered it could be deadly. I dont mean to put a damper on things but unless you have the skill you really should not be doing this. BMW spent millions engineering this car, you just cant go cutting and shutting here and there it must be really well thought out. What if you crash? You have changed the structure and will it hold up?

I am a panel beater and in my country Australia they are super strict with what you are planning to do, it would have to have every single part checked and signed of on by a engineer, that way if it fails and you kill someone the engineer wears the blame as he signed off on it..

However if you know what your doing good luck with it as im sure it will be impressive when completed.

Im sorry but I felt someone had to post this because you might not be aware of the complexities of what you are attempting of doing.. If you take a short cut on this you might just take someones life if it fails.

I am chilled I just wanted to point out this kind of job isnt to be taken light heartedly. It is a job for pros. Sounds like he knows what he doing going by what you have said, but modifying seats isnt the same.

Anyway I will be watching this thread as I really like the idea. Now get on with it..

It's no problem really.

Just reinforce the structure with the bars where the joints were to stop the body from flexing.
Get a small roll cage fitted.

And just make sure you weld good, other than that, I'm sure the geezer doing it is a pro and can do it in a jiffy no probs lol.

I can't wait to see the end result!

Sorry there's not been any updates, i'v been busy with work and stuff.

Mike dont worry mate i know what im doing, im not seriously altering the body only moving a piller a few inch so the 2 door door will fit, if anything time im finnished the car will be stronger.

Davy cheers for posting pics of interior

Got my doner car picked up, a damaged 2 door 325 sport and also got 2 door 316 lux (requires an engine) so i might turn it into a 325 sport, pics to follow. But going to concentrate on tourer first.

Hi mate your correct its just down to reinforcing the structure, i will be using some sort of roll cage but not decided on a full or half cage.
Not sure about doing it in a jiffy lol.

Hopefully be cutting up doner car in the next few weeks to get body parts required.
Not sure on engine yet probably run existing with possability of fully rebuilding spare 25 engine if it doesn't go into 316. I'll do bodywork first then think of engine reckon i will need to do something quite trick, have to see how funds go.
