The last one at Abingdon seemed to go quite well, with everyone enjoying it...I think.

The cost was £99, but as its now in the summer its an extra £20.

We had 8 zoners last time, it would be good to get that number up to 10. Newbies are more than welcome and to be honest, you'd have to be a complete and utter numpty to bend your pride and joy on an airfield day.

We used this company before:

http://www.motorsport-events.co.uk/

And I have used them about 10-12 times previously as well. A good, fairly run day. Only chumps see the black flag. :)

The dates for Abingdon are:

24/07/2009

but Colerne is also one to consider on:

25/07/2009 THIS IS A SATURDAY and near Bath.

Spaces will will up pretty quick after payday, yes that is today.

What you get:

No speed cameras
Safe environment for newbies and experienced members alike.
A good atmosphere between zoners and other track members.
Chance to compare you car against other things(on the quiet of course :)
Burger van 8O
Toilets
A wicked day out for the price of a couple of tanks of fuel.

What you don't get:
Instruction, although some good members might sit in with a newbie if its there fast time out. I'll do this happily, but I am far from good. :D
Pit garages.
The right to be a cock.

Post up if you are interested. I am going to speak to my brother and see which day he would prefer as well. If this is too early, we can look at August, but I will probably do one of the two events above anyway.

Both circuits are good, with me prefering ABINGDON even though it is further away, although the lure of Colerne on a Saturday is tempting.

Abingdon has been returned to its normal layout, so no silly long straight which is good for our asthmatic cars! :)

Disclaimer: This is not being hosted by myself or e30zone, so no come back on either of us if something goes wrong. I.E. You are a plank and stuff it into something or someone.

I'm very tempted by Abingdon... doesn't really look like there's much in it, in terms of distance from me & as an excuse to take a Friday off work, they don't come much better.

Shame I can't drive eh?! :)

Indeed....not! You'll be fine. Convertibles are all good as well, just a bit more care required, as sideways onto the grass could be 'interesting.'

£119 is a cheap 5 hours of open pit as well. Some people piss that up the wall in a weekend.

Noted Kevin. It would be good to get it going every couple of months to let members enjoy their cars.

I'll pop along to an Abingdon day, not sure if I'll make July as I need to pull the head on mine... Definately up for August, mate with an m5 is also very keen to come along.

What's wrong with the car now mate?

I could be up for for a day in August, the trag bitch is progressing nicely and (famous last words) looks like it could well be done by August.

What a complete ballache.

Was this my old head, or one from the 'new' engine?

was the old head, although I had refreshed it with stem seals etc, got another head that I'm going to have checked for flatness and then get it built up to a stage that I can just swap the cam over, thinking about uprated rockers from ireland engineering but not sure whether to bother or not... think it was something like £300 for a set...

These things are sent to try us, need to get some trackdays under it's belt, thats what the sodding thing is for!

Go for the forged rockers, worth it for peace of mind as much as anything. I can't wait to do a trackday or two, going to the ring made gave me the kick up the arse I needed to sort my car.

Well up for this as usual Jon, but sadly I know I wont have a chariot fit by then, I will try to tempt Si to drive the Sport though, he was well up for one after Abingdon!

Would prefer Colerne as I've used all my holiday up and dont get my fresh entitlement till the 1st of August and its closer!

I am thinking I might do Colerne in July, and Abingdon in August. That would probably suit the masses more.

Yeah get Si to bring that chariot. I'll post up when I have got my arse in gear and booked something.

Hi Jon,

Let me know which one the lads are going to and will try and make it. I may even have the M2 ready by then to give it a shake down, although It most likely will be the M3.

Cheers,

Seems like August Abingdon is the way forwards. I'll let this run a few more days and then edit the first post to represent the interest in Aug/abing.

Come guys, No body booking up for Abingdon airfield ?

Went down there for the first time in February and had a great time, there loads of run off so little chance of doing any damage unless of course you do something really silly.

Would be nice to see a few more Zoners there on the day.

Cheers,

I've just booked online as I had forgotten to do it. 8O

Guys, seriously, don't leave it too much longer. I left it too long to do Colerne this month and it is fully booked, i'm still pissed off about that.

As there is only two events in August, I will put £20 on it being fully booked a week before the event.

Dave, what car are you bringing, what is this 'other' thing you talk of.

Jon,

Will be the M3 sh te bucket as I don`t think I would have completed enough time in the S14 - powered 2002 by then, and the 2002 also has a lot to live upto compared to the M3.

Will finally decide closer to the time so may surprise everyone, and it has the best E30 engine BMW made S14 , cr E30 M3 dogleg gearbox, 325i rear subframe ( rear disc brakes ) 3.64 LSD, soft R888`s all round, coil overs, so has enough E30 parts not to be banned from the forum.

I`up to Woodbridge this Saterday in the M3 so will see how it runs up there.

Regards,

Dave

Damn that is a shame Barry.

2002 sounds really cool, something retro that the old man would love, but with some grunt to get it moving.

Tomson, Tommos mate simon, Si13, Theo, Davenoonehasseenhimforawhile, Karan, Ziggy??

Any other Zoners? come on there are so many traffic light heros on here that need to come. :)
