Tis good for me for a giggle, I won't be paying much attention to the results though.

Because its not my normal dyno. Therefore apart from comparing the numbers to others that are there on the day the numbers are pretty much useless. Hardly comparable to previous runs done at various stages of tune on another dyno.

Thanks for adding me Adi. I've never been on a dyno before, how do they do it ( do they drive the car up the gears onit?) also can they tune the car in any way with the results there?

Finally what risks of my car blowing up? I never caine the Alpina so I am worried about it bouncing of the limeter like a drifter would.

I've dyno'd many, many hundreds of cars on our dyno's over the past 8 years and I have had nothing "blow up" yet... tempting fate I know, but as long as your engine is in good condition, all your levels are topped up, the dyno cooling fans are upto the job and the dyno operator keeps an eye on temps and AFR's, etc then there really is nothing to worry about.

There will only be 3 runs... and is no more harder on the car than driving it down the road yourself. Usually runs start at around 1250rpm and taken to the limiter or a few hundred rpm after peak power is reached if thats well before the red line. Once the limiter is reached, then it shouldn't be held there.. and I believe won't be.

It'll blow the cobwebs out if nothing else.

Hope you all have a great day!

Paul.

Thanks for that!

I know that once you hit 3800rpm it hits the power band and the thing rockets. Well the drive down will make it nice and warm for the dyno :D

They should give you a wheel BHP and a estimated flywheel power.

The Dyno Dynamics machine measures wheel power and the manufacturers do not recommend the run down. Instead, they take a percentage "loss" and add it to the wheel power.

All I'll say about this is, make sure your transmission is hot to get the best results  Or make sure they do enough runs to give 2 results which are within 1bhp of eachother. It can take upto 6 - 8 runs on those machines! :D
