got me a machine polisher

to get rid of the pink paint on my brilliant red 2 door, im using farecla g3 compound and will be giving it a couple of coats of meguires gold class wax. my question is what is the best grade/make/colour mop to buy for the polisher and wheres the best place to buy, i have a local colourtone paint shop is that the best place to buy them, thanks

god been few years since i last used one them i cant remember what the mop grade was. where you looking at going for your bits?

i had mine polished 3 times to try get rid of my pink but it just came back few days later

i will go to colourtone in stockport, the buffer did come with an old pad but it has left swirl marks so i think i need a softer one

you have to hand polish the swirl marks out after IIRC. i remember using a poilsh that was a b****rd to use. handglase or something like the. worth asking about. colourtone that him next to carphonewerahouse on portwood?

stupid question but have you tried using a clay bar to get rid of the pink? I swear I saw a thread here where someone had done just that.

You need a hard sponge for using compound (G3)
Use a soft foam pad with some fine grade cutting polish afterwards to remove the swirl marks

I use 3M velcro pads as you cant go wrong really, best bet is to go to a paint suppliers and they should be able to put you straight

Be very careful with the G3 if youve never used it before, it will burn through paint like a gas axe given the chance.
Ive been using the stuff for over 10 years and still cant fully trust myself with it!

iv got a few bits on my bm where i went through the paint lol

I wouldn't use the G3, whilst it is a good product there are certainly better ones out there, something from the Menzerna range or even 3M, G3 is very aggressive and the abbrasives don't break down like they do in more modern polishes, also products like Menzerna work down to an LSP ready finish.

cheers for the help guyss, the bloke in the shop gave me some 'autoglym trade superfine' stuff and a soft sponge , seemed to work really well and didnt leave any swirls

a new mop head only lasted you 10 minute you animal. g3 is one of the better polishes to use and as dan says use the machine glaze after on a softer pad to remove swirl marks farecla pads are realy good to use white one is the hard for use with the g3 and the black one is for the machine glase

Thank you, I'm glad someone else has the same thoughts as me.

If you're just wanting to remove the pink oxidation the. a cutting pad and some either Menzerna IP 3.02 or 3M fast cut plus will do the tric, then finish it off with some Menz 106FA or 3M Ultrafina on a finishing pad.

Oh and don't use water with this stuff, just mist the pad before each hit.
