Question about BBTB. Good or bad?

I have read all the raves about BBTB but I cannot decide if they really are as good as they are made out to be. Surely if it increases the amount of air being drawn into the engine this will make it run leaner which in turn would make it run hotter. That cannot be good. Do you not need to increase the amount of fuel as well to make the mixture correct and if the airflow thingy does that automatically does this not have an impact on economy. I only get about 20mpg at the moment out of my 325I and with the cost of fuel, as it is I cannot afford to be using even more. I am not a mechanic so if all this is bollocks I apologise but it would be good if someone cleverer than me could answer this question.

if i am led to believe, the ECU automatically adjsuts the amount of fuel going in to the cylinders pal

The ECU ajusts the amount of fuel being injected as the AFM tells it more air is being used, however the extra power that is being produced ofsetts the exra fuel being used as you have to use smaller throttle openings to get the sme amount of power. The biggest difference it makes is on wide open throttle when you can really feel the differance, if you already have or are considering a chip then get one, but get the chip first. If you are really concerned about fuel economy then get a 316i! It doesn't really make a noticeable differance, changing your driving style would be more noticeable.

20mpg doesn't sound too good for a 325i but as i've never had one i don't know.
with regard to the bbtb: it's supposed to make the car more powerful to make it quicker. you can't expect more power without using more fuel, the fuel is where the power comes from!!
the throttle body adjusts the amount of air (and hence amount of fuel) going in, and hence the amount of power put out. a bbtb allows more air and fuel at FULL THROTTLE but at part throttle it will be no less efficient so will use no more fuel.
edit: as widge says!

Do they do one for the IS? Or is it basically the same TB as the M20?
