Its hard to make up your mind tbh, Im looking for a cheap saloon car from the early 80s. If you choose a car from Germany there are two version I like, it is the Audi 100 C2 and the BMW 5 series E28 - and to be honest, I cant make up my mind....

If only on asthetics, it has to be the E28

E28 is a much better built car too, than the audi.
Take a drive in both if you can, then you'll realise what we mean

If you Got "Haters",Then your doing something Right!

Ditto everything ^^^^^. However no one has mentioned the dreaded RUST

[were audi 100 models galvanized back then?] E28 's definitely weren't

If it aint broke don't fix it!

it would have to be the e28 on the looks alone. the audi is a boring barge with no distinguishing features.

The audi just looks old and boring, people would just think you were a cheap skate driving one of those, the E28 looks classy and people will know your a classic car nut not just skint

There have always been a domestic war between BMW and Audi and yes I can understand that most people at the zone choose the E28, and it is for a reason, it’s a very good car!
When it comes to the Audi 100 C2 I have actually owe one for long time ago and it was to be frank a very good car. The car was good to drive and it was also a good autobahn cruiser and the cabin had a lot of space and the same was it with the boot.
I can still remember the sound today, from the 5 cylinder engine when I pull the pedal to the metal from the Audi engine and I can still remember the few advantage from front wheel drive when I need to drive up a deep hill when it was -20c and 50 cm of snow outside.
Sadly, this was many years ago, and I didn’t gave it so much TLC and it went away long time ago! Today I can still get a smile when I see an old school Audi 100 and to be honest, it doesn’t happen so much today due to they are old and rare.
So over to the E28
I have never own one to be honest, I know their quality is like a rock and yes it looks much more as a classic car then an old Audi 100 due to its shark nose and the shape of the wind screen. I know also that it share BMW quality as I know for 3 years now ”“ and yes it’s nice to pull out a slide when its wet due to rear wheel drive.
But I can’t make up my mind!

Have you asked the same question on an Audi forum - different responses me thinks

Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.
Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

Surely even the audi boys would have to admit that the BMW was a much better car unless there fan boys

BMW wins on looks,
BMW wins for RWD,
BMW wins for the extra cylinders!
THis is just my opinion, But Audi is

, and the E28 is

I used to have an E30 now got a Audi 80 Sport. Pretty happy with it, it is a shame its FWD, but none the less a great car.
My brother had an E28 before and they are great cars, very comfy and you feel safe driving one of those because of the shear size and weight of the beast!

The Audi 80 B2 have always been a cool car tbh, if you dont like it is FWD, you can always go for the Quattro version.
If you want something special, look for a 2-door version
