Hey all,

I'm having a new rear window put into the hatch/tailgate of the Touring and have a question about the trim. Are the skinny trim strips that run along the bottom and sides of the glass really necessary? They tend to fade and shrink over time and don't seem to do much other than create a breeding ground for rust. When you look at the rear glass on any modern hatchback/estate, they've done away with the trim altogether.

Also, how the heck do I remove the rear spoiler from the glass? It isn't moving an inch!

Any advice appreciated.

I think i paid about Ԛ£11 for the bottom strip because it had shrunk, It leaves a pretty big gap so i have no idea how to fill it without making a mess.

not a lot of help but have a look

I ran a bead of sikaflex into mine, looks better than the strip.

i got a new srtip for the bottom edge, about a Ԛ£10. and filled each end up with black silicone (kitchen stuff) to stop water getting in under the trim,

and also smoothed a bead on the top edge of the trim to seal it against water getting in under from there also

now its tight as a .... tight something
