step dad swoped his 316i lux for this

he asked me to clean it out for him and he will knock a few debts off :chuckle:

body work has a fair few dents and scratchs, interior was pretty dirty but spent a few hours on the interior and its come up well

hasnt been polished just zymol auto wash and some auto glym tyre dressing :)

has air con, cruise control, has about 10 speakers, premium sounds system????, electric back ajust in the seats, has every thing bar leather seats which he wanted but i suppose you cant have everything

hopefully it will get a clay bar and machine polish next week

it certainly put the e30 to shame build quality wise, its built like a space shuttle

its not the original one the seller fitted a bmw removable tow bar so it has the removable bit for that, but he also supplied us with the original bumper which is sat in the garage

Imy - i was thinking the same although i would prefer an m52 :)

Alex,i had one of these in saloon form, was a real peach of a engine,a good mix of power and torque and even fairly economical.

Looks to be in good condition, apart from the few scrapes, will tidy up nice that.

Do you still have the towbar fitted? Or did the previous owner flog it off? I cant understand why he didnt use the original bumper and just paint the cover

Very nice and original - looks nice :D

Got air con (does it work tho???), passenger airbag as well, looks like the metrics were ditched for BBS's which is a good move!

I bet he appreciates the boot loading as it's quite a bit bigger and easier with it being flat

They still don't have the character of the E30 tho
Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.

Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

its going back to standard too, currently saving to get a standard exhaust too, will be fun sorting the rear valance out :chuckle:

due to my age it would have to be a 520i i would have a 518i but it would have to be loaded with goodies, leather air con cruise etc but you never get that with a 518i :(

Bumpers are the same, painted or not. Look on the inside where the tow hole cut out should be, you will be pleasantly surprised :)

520i's are an utterly miserable thing to drive with a "torque deletion" option. The autos are horrific.

The M43 518i is far more driveable.

I don't know about that, my 525 sport had plenty of character and felt in a different league from an e30, I was really surprised, it didn't drive like a big car

What is this infamous E30 "character"? Rusty jacking points, rotten scuttles, corroded sunroof trays, scabby sills, threadbare driver's seats or a damp boot? :D

E34s are a cracking car. End of.

That's not entirely true. I can't comment on an auto as I've never driven one, but a late (ie M50 vanos) 520i is a very pleasant car to drive.

Can't say I fancy an auto m20 one much though

My Dad had a manual 520i touring and it was very sluggish. I've always preferred the 518i (M43 engined not M40 wrongness) as they have the low down torque that a car of the E34's size needs.

An auto 520i M20?

Thankfully thats one I've avoided! :D

Judging by the steering wheel, thats a M50.

Early M20's had the E30's SE/Lux wheel.

I'm surprised its that quick, the E30 320i auto is about 11.5 iirc.
