what to use to detail your engine bay and polish car?

What do you guys use to detail your engine bay? as i will be cleaning out my 6 this weekend. also what polish is good to use on a black car?

Auto glym engine and machine cleaner is good stuff

always wondered the same, a toothbrush, oven cleaner and many hours of pain and suffering is all I've ever done it with.... Need to work out how to get rid of the speckles you get on the manifold!

steam cleaners are good if you have a white car coverd in burn yellow laquer stuff

traffic film remover really tidies up an engine bay, but used too concentrated and it can turn black hoses a bit milky

i thought of that too but i have no outside hot water tap

might be quicker and easier
